The actual video duration of this clip is 34 hour, and vegas can only detect it for 10 hours 24 minutes.
Actually, it imports the full video. Only in the timeline, the hours only go up to 24:00, and then they reset. So everything is there, except for the full audio.
As a workaround, I extracted the audio to MP3 using ffmpeg. I could import that in its entirety.
Correct.. mis-read the timeline counter.. apologize.
Same for me, at first.
The other solution is, like I edited the comment above, is to disable so4compoundplug, and let it use compoundplug.dll
Thanks for the suggestion, but couldn't find how to do that. Anyhow, it shouldn't be necessary. This looks like a bug in Vegas, one of countless bugs, unfortunately.
press Ctrl+Shift when accessing Options>Preferences...
That works.
There find tab internal, find 'so4', and change to FALSE for the entry for 'Enable So4 Compound Reader for AVC/M2TS'. - Restart Vegas Pro. done.
However, I don't find that entry in my relatively fresh install of Vegas Pro 17.0 (Build 421).
Looks different here, but maybe I could add the option manually.
Taking these screenshots was a big pain with Vegas crashing all the time. Certainly I won’t by buying the upgrade to version 18. Vegas seems to have the same fate as Xara Designer. Once purchased by Magix, it was bloated with features to draw in noobs, at the expense of catering to the existing user base.
Thank you, found it. Indeed after changing the option, I can import the complete audio.
Can you explain what this option does? Why is so4compoundplug not disabled by default?
Concerning the crashing, Magix should fix this, not the users. I use a lot of complex software that does not crash. Software that crashes is buggy. Unfortunately, I don't think that Magix cares about having a stable software package. All they care about is retail sales, and for that they need as many features to advertise as possible.
It's time to move on. (like with Xara, which I reluctantly left for Affinity)
So4compoundplug is a new decoder since Vegas Pro 15, built to made for newer video codecs, but of course there are few issues as well and developers need to update it.
Gives me a 404. (one of many broken links on the Vegas web site, even the email link to restore my old forum profile was broken, 500)

"of course", "few"? Apparently, they didn't test thoroughly. I hope there will be an update in the upcoming days.
