@MikeyDH you are going to have to provide much more info if you want others to see what you are talking about. Remove what files from where. You can move them anywhere you want and not delete them.

Several of us do have Continuum complete, and it's working so far for us.

App Data Files. I thought I explained it clearly enough. There are files within both Vegas and Boris in C users App Data. In Vegas: svfx_plugin_cache.bin  +  plugin_manager_cache.bin -- Remove them from this directory (but don't delete them quite yet). All I asked is how to do that.

Former user wrote on 12/29/2021, 3:46 PM

Is this a problem with complete Continuum suite?

Yes, Boris has replied and I am in the process of correcting the problem. Just a matter of making sure of their directions with their reply. When they say remove items from app data but don't delete I hit a wall with just how to do that.

@MikeyDH You haven't explained it at all, this is your first mention of a reply from Boris, ? no mention of what they have suggested? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

So from the comment above i'm guessing? - Go to C:\Users\'your name'\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0, the plugin cache file is one of them, delete everything, don't worry about moving without deleting, just select & delete, Vegas will take a little time to boot next time but it will rebuild all those files, you can then empty the Recycle bin when you want to,

Gee, I am sorry I can't keep up. This was their reply....... "In Vegas: svfx_plugin_cache.bin  +  plugin_manager_cache.bin -- Remove them from this directory (but don't delete them quite yet)."

Thanks for your input. It is greatly appreciated

@MikeyDH ok, 👍 I think these are the files they're ref to, cache bin + plugin manager above it, it's in C:\Users\'your name'\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0 in the Bin group, but like i say you can delete everything in this file & Vegas will rebuild it when it launches next time

I'd like to thank all who helped with this problem. Vegas and Boris are together, but not as happy as I'd like. I am thinking it is more of a memory problem than anything.

I was thinking of just getting an up date desktop to do just video and photo work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is new that would serve me well?

Reyfox wrote on 1/3/2022, 3:01 PM

@MikeyDH whatever is out there.... it's going to be way overpriced..

What does is your current hardware?

What isn't way overpriced? I have an HP Pavilion AMD Athlon that is 13 years old that has been reworked and kept going with everything but memory. There are only 6 gigs of Ram and for certain there is a lot of newer technology and power out there. This machine has served me well.

Reyfox wrote on 1/4/2022, 5:44 AM

Yes, time to get something new. In this "day and age", a gaming laptop might be a good choice. Otherwise, buying a desktop is way too expensive for what you get. But it appears this is going to be the "new norm".

Right away, 6GB of RAM does not meet Continuum minimum specs. And Graphics Cards must support OpenGL 2.1 or higher.

I am surprised you can do anything on a 13 year old PC with today's software and the requirements. And looking at Vegas specs, your computer doesn't meet them. That it worked is a minor miracle.

@MikeyDH  ... Please have a look at the minimum specs for Vegas Pro 19: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/specifications/#productMenu

Your computer may have served you well, but things have moved on a lot since 2008/09. The best use of old technology computers (and I still have a computer from the original XP era) is to use it for programs from that era.

Seriously, to expect Vegas Pro 19 and/or BorisFX 2021 to function on a 13 years old computer displays an impressive level of optimism.

Cameras: Sony FDR-AX100E; GoPro Hero 11 Black Creator Edition

This machine had an upgrade with everything but the processor and memory. I do agree that it is time.

Not knowing what is in your machine is the reason for the speculation. You do not have this information in your user info, or like a lot of us, in your signature.

“Its a bit of a bear on the system just doing the simple stuff.” said @MikeyDH in 2016.

I loaded Vegas Pro 18 on my old i7-3770K with no add-in GPU and it sucked so bad I removed it and just left Vegas Pro 14 installed for the rare occasion that I might use Vegas on that machine.

I updated to build 458 and from initial usage experience, the Boris Continuum (2021) seems to work fine. It appears to work better than it has before with Vegas Pro. Screens in 3D Studio are updating correctly, and respond better.

Looks like I'll be biting the bullet and updating to a 2022 machine. I have been checking this out but my budget just about covers that before adding monitors. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have decided to get a build around this video card:

ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 MINI 8GB GDDR6 Video Card with LHR, DUAL-RTX3060TI-8G-MINI-V2.

Would this be a good card to run Vegas with all necessary components to do 4K video? Windows 10/11? Processor?

It will have 32 GB Ram, etc etc,

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated

@MikeyDH Have a look at this, in the Benchmark link there's spreadsheets showing people CPU & GPU, on the last page i've inc a few screenshots of my RTX 3090, I can do simple 4k editing but apply fx's & Vegas slows, so just a word of warning, you'll get decent performance but don't expect miracles

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/benchmarking-results-continued--118503/?page=1

MikeyDH wrote on 1/21/2022, 1:51 PM

Thank you Gid. I appreciate the link to the Benchmarks. I'll be going over them and see if there are any close comparisons to what I have in mind. My edits will not be 4K exclusively. Just need something able to handle it when I do any editing in it. Thanks again.

Former user wrote on 1/21/2022, 2:03 PM

@MikeyDH I'm fairly happy with my PC but i sort of wish i'd looked at this,

It's 1920 x 1080 FHD or 3840 x 2160 UHD

Avg fps on 'Region 1' , which is an intensive part of the benchmark project that shows how playback is

& this is based on render times

But open it yourself, you'll see what suites your budget & where you'd like to be in that list 👍

I haven't posted mine but i'd be in the 0.43secs for FHD range & i get about 14fps playback (i think) 😒🙃😂

My specs are in my signature bottom of this comment & if you put an @ symbol in a comment you get a list of people you can tag to maybe query, if they're still on this forum

MikeyDH wrote on 1/21/2022, 3:07 PM

Wow, talk about loaded. Super computer.... All I see there are dollar signs, lol. I'm hoping to get some specs on what the builder is going to use around that card that I am getting new at a substantial savings.

Former user wrote on 1/21/2022, 3:50 PM

@MikeyDH Yep £ signs for me, £8k of them 😮 as well as the two 2TB M.2 drives I got two 12TB hard drives to store my YT vids on, that added another £800 (they're cheaper now 😒), you'd think for a PC at that price i'd be pretty much at the top of that list in the benchmark & Vegas would play without a hitch, but I'm not & Vegas doesn't play 'perfectly', that's why i say 'just a word of warning, you'll get decent performance but don't expect miracles' 😒🤷‍♂️😂 I hope you find something you're happy with 👍

MikeyDH wrote on 1/21/2022, 5:07 PM

I hope so too, Gid. Thank you for your input and direction.
