Can't get Voukoder to work

steve-quinney wrote on 4/27/2024, 1:43 PM

Hi. I have just moved from Vegas 18 to 21 and cannot get Voukoder to appear in the "render as" list. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Voukoder many times without any joy. I must be doing something wrong but don't know what. I had it working in 18 but having uninstalled Voukoder I can't get it to work in 18 either now. What could I be doing wrong? I am getting the message "The Voukoder core installation could not be found. Please go to https://www.voukoder.org and install the core component". Any help gratefully received. Many thanks, Steve.

Voucoder Classic?

Have you installed both, the Voukoder app itself and the Connector plugin your Vegas version?

https://github.com/Vouk/voukoder/releases/download/13.4.1/voukoder-13.4.1.msi

https://github.com/Vouk/voukoder-connectors/blob/master/vegas/connector-vegas21-1.7.1.msi?raw=true

These are the correct two components you need to install for it to work in Vegas Pro 21.

There's also an important proviso at the bottom of the Voukoder download page:

Thanks for your suggestions everybody, much appreciated.

I've deleted all references to Voukoder on my system and then re-downloaded and installed once more.

I don't know why, but this time it's been successful. As far as I know I've done nothing different from before, but the main thing is it's working now.

To answer your point Howard-Vigorita, I downloaded the trial version of Vegas 21 from the Vegas website first as my GPU card is basic (2Gb) and doesn't meet minimum specs for 21, so I wanted to confirm it would work, which it does, but obviously slower than it should be. I then purchased the upgrade from 18 thru' Vegas's website.

Once again, thank you all for your time and thoughts.

Steve.

Using a 2GB VRAM card will lead to issues including a lack of memory error message if Vegas needs to use more than 2GB of GPU on board VRAM.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Hi Andy, I realise it could cause problems, but I am not doing anything complicated in my videos (just family holiday videos and slideshows). For instance, I don't expect 2Gb to cope with AI or any of the other advanced features of V21. I could happily have carried on with v18 for a while yet but thought I ought to keep reasonably up-to-date with the software. So far, I've not had any memory problems (except my own!!).

Thanks anyway.
