Can You Have Too Many Tracks?

Just wondering if you can have too many audio tracks for Vegas to handle? Occasionally I notice sound quality deteriorate at times and thought I might be pushing Vegas too hard with lots of audio clips and effects laid on them.

750 audio tracks filled with audio may be too much. It would be helpful if you could concretize what number you mean talking about "too many".
