Cannot see my google drive files from within VEGAS explorer

Simplest2remember wrote on 4/26/2023, 3:13 AM

I can see all the other files, but evidently, the VEGAS Pro app does not have the permission to read the google drive files (which is located on the same HDD). If I could find where to log into google drive from inside VEGAS I will probably solve this - or maybe some other setting?

When I download google drive project files to my HDD, they open in Vegas just like any other project on my HDD. But until I download them, I can only access them with a web browser. Not with Vegas Explorer or Windows Explorer. Are you mapping them as a drive or folder into Windows Explorer somehow? ... if you can navigate to your google drive files with Windows Explorer, just double click or right-click on your Vegas project located there and use Open With to open with Vegas.

AFAIK, Google Drive does not support FTP or WebDAV, so mapping it as a network drive may not be possible. Assuming the Google Drive desktop app creates a sync'd local folder.. that should work either on-line or off-line.

That's what I would have thought - I have a Google drive (web) AND local copy of my these files, which is set to mirror it. I see the files in explorer, they are physically there, on my hard drive, very fast if I click on them, but Vegas explorer only sees the root of them (e.g. \Gdrive) - but not the files inside. This is normally because the app that is accessing them, on this case Vegas, doesn't have the permission to read them. If I click on projects from outside Vegas, all is well.

There's no problem I can see reading files on the HDD or even on drives of remote networked computers... if Windows Explorer lets you in, so does Vegas. Only complication is that if you mount drive media or add clips after Vegas is already running, you need to click the Refresh View icon on top of the Vegas Explorer pane to get the new stuff to show up:

Maybe this is also worth trying if you not already did:
Right-click on the Vegas launcher icon and go to properties/compatibility mode and choose to run the program as an administrator, at least if you are registered in your account as an administrator.

This is certainly worth a bash, I'll let you know how running as admin works.

It seems that others don't have this problem, so even if it solves the problem, it won't fix the underlying issue.

I'll still take it though!!

@Simplest2remember

Where is the local copy of your G Drive located?

What entities have access to it?
