Capture Video with Vegas 19/20

Joav-Shdema wrote on 8/18/2022, 8:06 AM

I am transferring a lot of DV cassettes into Vegas. Prior to Vegas19 there was a clear way of doing it with the clear button to perform the task. Since 19 I have no clue how to. The Capture video in file menu open a capture screen to capture the screen - not a 1394 external unit, no way of directing the capture to a folder etc. I would love to learn ho to keep to my old ways... still using Vegas 18 for this task...

Vegas 18/19/20 Windows10 PC.

Thanx

Scenalyser is a program that does it very good outside of Vegas, free downloadable here: https://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Recording/ScenalyzerLive.shtml

@juan_rios, that is not available in VEGAS Pro 20

In vp19 it's enabled in deprecated features and should be pointed to in Video Preferences checking the box : "Use external video capture application." The normal place it's stored is here:

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0\VidCap60.EXE

It's not included anymore with vp20 but you can still use the vp19 one if you create a shortcut to it on your desktop. You'll just have to import the captured files manually to get them into vp20. Or create the project in vp19, save it, then open it in vp20. Remembering there's no going back to vp19 once you save the project in vp20.

ScenalyzerLive is a nice alternative... if you can get it without 3rd party bloatware that screws with your browser and computer. Direct link to basic download from the author's page is here.

Scenalyzer does not come with any bloatware direct from the site you and I both pointed to. He explains why it's now free on that website. Personally, I like it better than VidCap.

You guys are an endless wealth of deep knowledge. Thanks for both suggestions. I have enabled the capture in 19 and will DL the external program to see how it fits in. Meanwhile keep capturing in 18...
