Cloud based VEGAS PRO Editing…

And when will it be available? I have a firm quote from Verizon on DSL availability in my neighborhood of June, 2039. I can sign up for FiOS starting in 2061. Oh boy, bestill my quaking heart.

Even TimeWarner won't give me anything better than 7.1 down/1.1 up no matter how much money i might offer them. As it is, even the 7.1 is way beyond what i could afford.

I did get a quote from a major ISP for a 12Mbps fiber line for $48,000 installation and $25,000/month bandwidth fees. I think i'll pass.

I'm sorry that you don't have high speed DSL in your neighborhood.

But that won't stop everyone else who does have high speed from moving on. I'm sure in some parts of the world people still have to use dial-up. That doesn't stop video sharing sites from offering high quality video streaming.

It may not be for everyone, maybe not even the majority of US folks, but there will be plenty of people in the world (and even some now) who would take advantage of online editing in the next decade.

Personally, and I'm just in a mid-sized city, I have 25 Mbps cable (and I speed test it regularly) for around $50/month. I would bet all the money I have that in 10 years I'll have a few hundred Mbps connection for relatively the same price.

I know that in less than 10 years I'll have 100Mbps for not much more than that price.
I currently have 20/0.5 via cable, just tested it to confirm I'm getting what I pay for. I reran the test to a beefy site in Palo Alto and bandwidth drops to a bit over half, not a big issue, fatter pipe could fix that. The other problem though is the increase in latency, it was 117mS which is way too slow for anything interactive. 30mS is the generally agreed limit. Unlike simply making the pipes fatter I know of no technicology even on a far off horizon that it going to reduce the time it takes for a packet of data to travel half way around the globe.

Of course to some extent the latency problem can be addressed by moving part of the cloud closer to home, latency to my ISP is just on the borderline of being low enough to make clouded editing feasible. One serious issue I see though is the way IP works, it was never designed for low latency.

Hello. I purchased Vegas Post. Version 19. I understand that the cloud allows me to upload the video form my phone so I can use it for editing. I have a fully purchased version of the product.

I was interested in the capability of using the cloud to upload the video and storage but I don't need to rent the online software (expensive and I own it). Is there an arrangement for cloud storage only? Thanks.

I need the way to move files out of my phone easily. Looks like the hub us good. So do you know if it works although I own Post 19 I purchase the subscription for EDIT and my already installed software will see it? Thank you.

Ha, ha, fwiw Verizon seems to be ahead of schedule in my US neighborhood. I can get fios today for $40/mo (200 mbps) or $90/mo (gigabit). But I don't think Vegas is totally cloud-based yet... it installs and runs locally rather than from a cloud drive. Only the hub is cloud-based.

My recollection when I tried 365 is that my purchased versions of Vegas edit saw the same hub as 365 when both licenses were registered to my same Magix account.

@Howard-Vigorita wow! Those are some high prices. Here in Lublin, Poland where I live, I can get 1GB with TV for less than $20 per month.

But back to the cloud. Sorry, not for me. If you have, like many, slow internet or limited bandwidth, it's a "no go". Second, if I travel to where the is no internet, then what....

That only works with the subscription license of Vegas Post.

For perpetual license you may want to use something like Google Drive to backup the videos from your phone and access the Google's Drive on your computer. That's what I do and it works pretty well for 4K60 & 8K30 over a 1GB connection.
