Color issue since launch?

Jeroen-vanBarneveld wrote on 9/3/2025, 7:28 AM

Hi,
I've bought Vegas Pro 22 a while ago, but haven't really used it. I've used it in the past for my other company but unsubscribed.

Now I have this issue.
I record videos on my iPhone. I WeTransfer them towards my pc so I can start in Vegas to edit them.
As soon as they enter Vegas the colours are different.
If I don't edit a single bit and I randomly pick a rendering option the colours are not the same anymore as they are on my original video on my phone. It's like there's a filter on. It doesn't matter if I make a new project and match the project video settings or not.

I just literally can't do anything.
Could you please come up with a solution for this.
I asked ChatGPT about it and it gave me multiple options, but it didn't fix the issue. I also re-installed it. Still an issue.
Could someone maybe help with something like AnyDesk or TeamViewer.

I don't understand what is going wrong.

Kind Regards,
Jeroen

Please note that the forum is a user-to-user forum and not Vegas Support; consequently, there is no ability for other Vegas Pro users to contact you via AnyDesk or TeamViewer.

To assist the forum, it would be great if you would upload to this thread a detailed MediaInfo (a free app) report of your iPhone media as well as a screen shot of the Project Properties window for your project.

It has nothing to do with me transferring it from phone. It's the same whenever I've got a mp4 file.

I switched Project properties multiple times aswell as different kind of render settings (default stuff)

I just don't understand why it's doing it.

Here is my Project Properties

Please carefully look at the attached screenshot.
On the leftside it's my video in VegasPro22 (only imported the video into VegasPro no editing nothing).

On the rightside is VLC mediaplayer with the exact same video in normale colours.

What is this issue?

It's showcased on the same monitor

While not disagreeing with your findings, it would be helpful if you would upload a screen shot comparison of the video using exactly the same video frame - which clearly not is the currently uploaded comparison because the package held by the man is in different positions so there may be other influences such as a minor auto-exposure correction by the camera.

This one I'm uploading now is like 5 frames difference.

It's an issue with viewing HDR files in a SDR environment. You need either a LUT or profile for iPhone HDR to SDR for editing. Alternatively you could go into 32-bit full (ACES) mode and also right-click the media and assign it a color space of Rec2100 or whatever it is.

Or change the phone settings so it no longer records HDR and will work without any adjustments in VEGAS.
