Hi, I used to have more time for editing (which is just a hobby), bought Vegas 8 and 9 Pro, DVD Architect, and Spotted Eagle's book on 8, and even bought the "Absolute Training" video set, which I never did watch. But then several life events interrupted, and it's been several years. Now I'd like to convert several of our home videos and create DVDs to give my brother (of the ones of our parents) and create videos for youtube or vimeo from the somewhat more recent videos of my sons.
I've already captured almost all the old VHS tapes using a VHS player and a DV camera that has pass-through, along with firewire. But I need to capture some more videos that another relative had.
My main question is whether it's worthwhile to upgrade to Vegas Pro 16. I'm sure it'll render must faster, and probably even have faster workflows. I don't want to just render the videos as-is, but do sensible editing.
Other question is whether there are some good guides on color correction, etc, and whether folks just go with the black bars or actually zoom in to get the 16:9 format.
Finally, probably a very dumb question - but is there any point in rendering to Blu Ray rather than dvd?
I really have a lot of catching up to do!
Thanks, everyone.
oh, just thought of this - would the newer version be better or worse for capturing video using my approach or the same? I'm going to set up my guest computer for capturing the remaining videos (quite a few hours of tapes, actually), so I could install 9 on it, or 16 if I buy the upgrade. I already have 9 installed on my main computer.
