You're welcome to reverse engineer this project. It looks like this:

Replace your media in the nested projects. Resize and rotate to taste.

You appear to have saved your project as a Vegas Pro 15 project. I haven't started the Vegas Pro 15 trial yet so I couldn't open it.

Did you overlay the new graphic in Left and right with a transparent .png? Without two events overlapping, the transition doesn't work.

I did a new project for you. Set the still image duration to 7 seconds and do the whole thing over faster than trying to fix it.

It looks like this:
