For the umpteenth time, Vegas Pro 19 update fails

lien.van.doorslaer wrote on 1/22/2023, 10:26 AM

it's not the first time my software has prepared an update but just won't do it. I may click "Update Now" 1,000 more times. It then does start and says the update succeeded, but when I start the program it just asks again. How come?

I currently have Vegas Pro 19 (Build 648) and so am failing to update to a higher version. Who can help me?

The current version of Pro 19 is 648.

Why the program ask me still to do an update?

Do you have the 365 version?

If you payed the money for that version than it is in fact "meaning" to say to you that an upgrade is available ( version 20).

@j-v yeah, but if I install v20 then my license code doesnt work because it's says it's already in use. Do I have to change my license code from version 19 to 20?

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 1/22/2023, 4:02 PM

@lien.van.doorslaer try and deactivate vp19 from the menu before installing and activating vp20. Or try logging into your Magix account and seeing if your same machine is using more than one license... that happened to me once when I updated a machine from Win10 to Win11 without deactivating my Vegas license from the menu first.

@Howard-Vigorita thx for the information. I'll try that.

Extra question: i've started a project in v19. That isnt finished. Can I open it in v20 or not?

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 1/22/2023, 4:09 PM

Should be fine. Just can't go backwards easily once save in vp20.

Yes, just make sure to save a new backup project file when you save it in 20, so for instance myproject.veg in VEGAS 19 you'd re-save as myprojectv20.veg, leaving the original myproject.veg unsaved-over so you can still open it in 19 if you ever need to. Once a .veg is saved in VEGAS 20, it can only be opened in VEGAS 20 or later.
