Freeze when cut event w/ autoripple while playing

This really slows down my workflow speed... I can't work fast: play-split-delete, play-stop-split-delete, because it freezes and I have to wait several minutes or save after each play-stop-split-delete-, or force vegas to shutdown. Sometimes I try to work "slow", like play (pause)- stop (pause) - split (pause) -delete (pause) *and keep saving*, because when I'm too deep focus into editing, I forgot and suddenly I'm (trying) to work fast, but vegas freezes and... it's very annoying and all the oposite to being productive. Please, please fix this...

rcarlton wrote on 12/7/2016, 8:42 PM

I have the same problem. I just have to work around it by making sure I have stopped playback when I delete. I have had this problem since 11.

shane-h wrote on 12/7/2016, 11:58 PM

Rcarlton, yes, agreed. That can help - but seriously, that x the millions of times a week we process this VERY VERY BASIC OF ALL VIDEO EDITING FUNCTIONS, the amount of lost productivity is amazingly high. How about someone freaking get on this thread and SAY WE'RE LOOKING INTO IT !!!!!!!! Bloody annoying , even all the way over here in Australia !

I gived up and use V11 again...

I'm just curios why developers don't see this issue before releasing a new version?

Oh, and there is a beta version, beta tester members. None of them saw it?
What they do? Simply unbelievable to me.

It seems like this has been fixed in build 211! 👌  I can't believe it! I'll have to test just a little more... 😵

I am so glad to find this post! I have this problem for years on 13 and now 14 and my computer is DEFINITELY not the problem. RAM / Processor / HDD / Graphics Card are top notch. It happens a lot on accident and as others have said, sometimes it freezes everything and either shuts down or i have to CTRL ALT DELETE and other times the audio keeps playing behind the frozen screen and once the timeline reaches its end, then it unfreezes. Needless to say I can't play that game when I have 10 minute plus videos to wait through.

As others have said, it speeds up editing tremendously because I can hear what is coming up and be prepared to go make my next timeline delete at the same time I am making the present one. The way I do it is I just hit the delete key on my keyboard to a chunk that needs to be deleted and often forget that i need to hit the stop button each time or pay the consequences.

I have the same experience on 13 and now 14 - very annoying. I try to remember not to do a delete when its playing but its too instinctive. But weirdly when I tested it following this thread it seems to be behaving OK, the only thing I think Ive changed is the preview RAM buffer but I cant think thats it. Ill play about a bit to see if i can get it to fail again (!)

Have you reported it to Magix? That's the best way to draw the developers' attention to bugs and get them into their backlog.

2 years ago for Sony - yes.

There's every chance Magix don't have it in their backlog of bugs. Can't do any harm to submit it again. You might think this is futile but I've seen issues fixed in the last year that I feel were directly down to support requests. Certainly more chance of success going that route than from a forum post that may or may not be seen.

relaxvideo wrote on 9/28/2017, 3:48 AM

I just cant believe developers don't see this issue while testing. Really, they always stop playback while deleting some event? It can be discovered in a few minutes usage. Sounds like they are aware of it, but cannot fix for some reason.

Marco. wrote on 9/28/2017, 1:59 PM

Maybe they can't repro. I can't either. I'm able to split, delete, trim events while playback without any problem (no matter if rippling is on or off).

relaxvideo wrote on 9/28/2017, 2:04 PM

interesting. which version? maybe they fix in one version and appeared later again? :)

Works here too (vp14, bld 270). UHD 23.976p media.

I noticed that it does lag for a fraction just after splitting the clip, then plays normally. Timing problem? Ithink you are going to have to provide a lot of detail to Magix support to get this reproduced / fixed.

Marco. wrote on 9/28/2017, 2:34 PM

My RAM preview is set to 4096 (16 GB available) and GPU boost is turned on (Intel HD Graphics 520).

xoticbirdbingo wrote on 5/1/2021, 11:12 AM

This problem still persists in version 16

To reproduce: make sure you do the following while auto ripple is on and video stays playing
-split clips in a number of places
-start deleting clips (right click + d key)
Within several deletes the program will crash.

Thanks for all you do!
