GPU Rendering Acceleration not working?

Hi, I have Vegas Pro 16, i7-4790k with 980 Ti. It takes roughly 40 mins for me to render a 37 min clip, but whilst rendering, my GPU is doing nothing so I want to find a way to enable GPU acceleration, I have ticked Allow Legacy GPU rendering, I have selected my GPU from the drop down menu in Video options, and when I customize a template, I have selected "Render using GPU if available", but I have no options for HVEC or CUDA or NVENC. When I go to render, it still doesn't use GPU and takes the same amount of time. Help!

Disable any legacy GPU settings. Update your NVIDIA driver. Then select MagixAVC and look for a NVENC template. Any luck?

I've never seen a great improvement rendering using gpu... a bit dissapointing all the times, you wont get your render task to be 2x faster...

For what GPU rendering can do in terms of reducing render time, please see the benchmarking results thread. Click on the image of the chart to see the full results.

My own system gets about a 2x boost with NVENC in 4K but less of a speed increase for HD. There is a quality or file size penalty for GPU renders, though.

@Bertie-Kemp In Vegas Pro 16, the "Allow Legacy GPU rendering" general preferences option is useful in the Sony AVC/MVC templates. It causes the template screen to show an encode mode selection with a default of CPU Only. The template's System tab has a button to Check GPU and it'll tell you what's available. I don't think that codec likes Nvidia. On my laptop it only shows Intel QSV as available even though it also has a 1050ti. Not sure if your cpu has Intel igpu built in. You might get gpu utilization if you turn off Legacy and look at the Magix AVC templates. I see Nvidia encode on them on my laptop with Vegas 16 build 424. Make sure your Vegas build and Nvidia Studio (and Intel if you have an igpu) drivers are up to date.
