Happy Otter: proxy switch has no effect, proxies stay on timeline

Hi waag and all

so I finished a multicam project with proxies generated by HO. I tried a few times to switch back to the originals, but the proxies stay as they are. Looking at the event properties by clicking "select in project media list" also points the event to the proxy version in the media folder. The only thing happening is that the project is forced to the proxy resolution, HD in this case, even if I set it to UHD to accomodate the original files. ( the project has1 UHD cam and 2 HD cam files )

Have to admit this is a rather scary situation, hope I can get this solved.

Have not tried HOS but when I want to get rid of proxies, I just delete them. Or if I want the option of getting them back later, move them to a sub-directory. My proxy files all seem to end in file-type ".sfvp0" and I always find them in the same directory as the media.

@Mindmatter

There are basically 3 different ways in HOS to create proxies. Which proxy tool did you use, ProxyAssist or KwikProxy? If you used KP, did you use the Vegas Auto setting which creates proxies the same as Vegas? If so, ProxySwitch has no effect since it works the same way as Vegas. If you selected Create Proxies, have you tried manually switching inside of KP?

Hi wwaag

I used proxy assist. I now tried to rerplace the proxies back to the originals via PA, setting proxy switch to originals -->all events--> remove. Either V17 crashes or nothing happens, repeatedly. Mostly, V17 just crashes and closes by itself. I then tried manually switching via KP, which has no effect either. The proxies are not being switched back, the timeline remains as it is. Strangely enough though, it occasionally deleted the proxies from the media pool.

I then tried to "replace media" in Vegas, which also freezes V17 straight away. After a while though, V17 is reactive again and the files are actually swapped. BUT...and here's the catch - the timing and the edits are now completely off! It just put the whole continuous file at the start of the first edit, completely ignoring all the editing / cuts etc being made to the proxy files. I thought only the referenced file would be swapped, keeping the edits in place! If not, I'm seriously f'ed. I cut out pauses, added pauses, texts, etc. Seriously?

😱

PS I now tried in V18 - same problem. crashes when using Proxy assist to swap back the files.

So back to square one I guess.
