I use also Norton 360 uptodate and no message on installing HOS and this is the result of a scan

Only Windows defender makes a remark, but that is not a problem because of this

@yassera-s

"Why Antivirus marks those files as viruses in first place?"

In all honesty, I have no idea and there is no way that the various virus detection engines will reveal how their detection algorithms work. Digital signing helps, but beyond that I have no idea.

I must admit that I'm skeptical of most add-on AntiVirus software apps beyond what's built into Windows.

I am using Norton antivirus since 1994 and I fully trust it. I don't even recall if my PC got infected with a virus in the last 20 years! Windows built in antivirus is no match for Norton, and it is only good enough if you don't want to spend money on far better options such as Norton. And according to most reviews, Windows built in antivirus offers one of the lowest protection out there, with some of the lowest virus detection rates.

Why you dont digital signe Happy Otter Scripts to avoid getting blocked by antivirus software?

HOS IS digitally signed and has been for over a year.

Hi @wwaag .. I downloaded the latest build and Norton still think that the file ColorCop.exe is a virus and deleted it. See screenshots:

@yassera-s

Heuristic means "it smells like a virus".

"Examples that employ heuristics include using trial and error, a rule of thumb or an educated guess."

That means they don't know, but the big corporation is playing CYA to save that 1 million dollar payout they promise in the TV ads.

wwaag wrote on 11/17/2020, 5:07 PM

Additionally, there are things in the Norton report that are simply "wrong". ColorCop was introduced in 2007--not just a year and 4 months ago.

@john_dennis and @wwaag

I am just sending you what Norton report and have no idea and don't know how accurate is the reporting!

Maybe you should contact Norton support to find out why they are flagging that file as a virus!

yassera-s wrote on 11/17/2020, 5:31 PM

@wwaag I am now interested to buy the full version of Happy Otter Scripts but I need to make sure that it works as it supposed to. I did not try everything it offers in the demo version, but I only tried the most important tool to me at the moment and that is the FX Assist and it is not working! When I run it I get error (Attached) and when I try to apply the script, the apply button is not working (attached)

So what is going on?

wwaag wrote on 11/17/2020, 5:36 PM

You must first get a trial license which is good for 30 days. To do so, Launch Help and then click on Trial License as shown.

wwaag wrote on 11/17/2020, 6:03 PM

I'd suggest that you take a look at the Install Notes which can be found at https://tools4vegas.com/wp-content/uploads/HappyOtterScriptsInstallNotes.pdf. On Page 2, there is a Quick Start Guide which describes loading the Toolbars and Licensing. For example, once OtterBar is loaded, just click on the icon with the "?" as shown here which brings up the Help dialog described above.

@wwaag I tried requesting a trial license as you said, received email with link, clicked on the link and got message saying "Your trial account was activated." I returned to Vegas and it was freezed! Restarted Vegas and tried HOS again I am told it is not activated!

yassera-s wrote on 11/17/2020, 6:52 PM

@wwaag Never mind, the activation worked in the second time I requested trial license, and FX Assist works great. But is there a similar function for transactions?

wwaag wrote on 11/17/2020, 7:05 PM

That's good news.

"But is there a similar function for transactions?"

Do you mean transitions? If so, I'd suggest trying the Free Tool, Set Event Fx and Transitions.

You should be able to either bypass or remove transitions from all or selected events. The same is true for event Fx.

Sorry I meant transitions. I tried the free Set Event Fx and Transitions and it does not work correctly! It only work for one event at a time, not all events at once! It also do not remove or disable the default dissolve transitions!

Also, I bought the full version of HOS and received the serial number, but when I tried to activate it, Vegas freezed again! It did not crash, it is just freezed exactly when I tried to activate the trial version!

Restatred Vegas and tried activating HOS and same problem .. it freezed right after I click on Activate for about 20 seconds then it worked.

wwaag wrote on 11/17/2020, 8:32 PM

"It also do not remove or disable the default dissolve transitions!" That's correct. It only removes or disables transitions that have been applied to an overlap. The only way to do that would be to either move events so that there is no overlap or to change the overlap to a cut. You might have a look at the Quick Properties tool in Vegasaur to see if it will do what you want.

Activation does take some time as you've experienced. Sometimes its quicker than others. Sometimes it can be very slow.

@wwaag  It doesn't even work as you said! It only works when I manually select ONE event at a time! But when selecting all event, it doesn't work at all! Here is a video to show that:

wwaag wrote on 11/18/2020, 3:19 PM

Works OK here.

Exactly how are you adding the transition and to what event? From your recording, it appears that you have an event containing the transition that perhaps sits on top of the original event?

Ok, so i have no clue when my new Ryzen will be delivered. So i want HOS to work on my old machine still. wwaag you got mail from my about that. Please help on that.

The other thing is about this 10bit workflow and VDUB:

oh and i have a question regarding 10bit. before i looked a bit closer into HOS about that, no matter what i chose in the renderplus settings and which profile i selected in vdub, the vdub status window (which you can display during its rendering) always just showed me its doing only 420 color matrix despite the source being 422 and 10 bit. and i dont think that status information in vdub is just to dismiss if it tolds me clearly what input it was. and i doubt its a vdub problem, its more like on its way to vdub (maybe avisynth?) is set wrong and telling/giving vdub not the correct videomaterial?

And i thought about the future. It seems HOS uses a version of FFMPEG which is not able to handle 12bit H265 output. Not that it is important because Vegas Pro is not that Pro that it understand really 12bit anyway, just a bit forshadowing. I know for a fact that www.gyan.dev FFMPEG version does support 12bit H265 output. If there is nothing specific you need from your FFMPEG version i am just suggestion you already use the gyan version?
