Managed to bypass all the warnings and install. Thanks. Maybe worth warning about Chrome in the e-mail with the link.

MS still asks if I want to install the update .exe file.

So, ran Malwarebytes and Bitdefender on the file and all was well as I expected it to be.

Had a bit of a fight with Malwarebytes it kept quarantining the activate file. I had to restore the file (reboot) and then add the file or folder to the exclude list - finally managed to get the licence activated. I don't mind as Malwarebytes is very strong at keeping dangerous stuff off my PC. It has now launched a browser addon that kills trackers and adds.

Hi Wayne, hope you're keeping well.

I've noticed recently that when using R+ and File Fixer the Rendering Progress bar seems to get stuck under my task bar, so I can't see the elapsed and remaining times. It has also got stuck on top of the task bar a couple of times blocking my view of my systray. I seem to remember that the progress bar could be dragged around the screen, but now it is locked in the bottom right hand corner.

It's a very minor issue, but it would be nice if you could make it so it can be dragged around the screen. That way it would block or be blocked by anything.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi Wayne, I am playing with Happy otter and trying out import assist. The file is MOV from iphone and I am trying rewrap as in image below. If I click on rewrapped in save options it says Oops unmanaged exception and Vegas crashes. It's OK on transcode.

Regarding the red flash, you must select the frame rate and then click on the green Check Mark enter your selection. The red flash will then turn off.

Question / suggestion regarding the "OtterMenu"

I have the "OtterMenu" on the toolbar , I like the dropdown when I click it.

But if extra scripts are installed they don't popup on that menu because there is no + option to add a script

Could it be possible to expand the OtterMenu with some + + + ?

My GUI issue, and I hope it's also a simple one, is that when HOS is working on something, my main Vegas screen can not be scaled, moved, or minimized.

In other words, the - □ x  buttons on the main Vegas window are disabled. If we could have the option to size and move that around as well, it would be a big convenience for getting some other things done during the HOS encode. The "Show Desktop" command in the taskbar is an option, but a bit inconvenient.

wwaag wrote on 11/27/2020, 7:01 PM

@Wiew

"OtterMenu" was not designed as a replacement for OtterBar which can handle up to 100 scripts or shortcuts. It only provides a means of launching the default HOS scripts and resetting the script settings. To me at least, OB is so much more flexible and convenient since it sits right above the timeline and you can create and save different layouts. Adding such options to OM would require a major rewrite. Plus, one can always just add the additional scripts to the Vegas taskbar itself.

@Musicvid

Since HOS is mostly "scripts", anytime one launches it "locks" access to Vegas. The Render+ script does have the option to "Run Minimized" and then "Restore" upon completion. Just discovered that this feature works as designed in older Vegas versions (through V17), but not in V18 for some reason.

@wwaag, Thanks for the tip; it seems everyone has their favorite HOS tools, and Import Assist and Render+ are two of mine. Grazie is hooked on Quick Preview, so I guess that'll be the next one for me to explore.

So you're AV (Malware Bytes?) prevented you from downloading at all? Just curious. Are you using the free or paid version? The only solution is to somehow whitelist the setup file. Once you download and run setup, are any files quarantined? If so, which ones?

Dunno Malware Bytes? This was through MS and I WAS asked by Microsoft if I trusted your site, I selected YES. But this wasn’t good enough.

I was able to download with no problem. I am using Malwarebytes Pro and BitDefender. When it came time to install, MS asked if I really wanted to do it. Of course! Installation went without a hitch.
