I am making a long video for an old computer running windows 7. I want to know the render setting which is HF but produces the smallest file.

Smallest file means also lowest quality.
A compromise between smallest file at best quality can be reached by rendering with Voukoder for Vegas instead.

This message is to 3POINT. I am using Vegas Pro 18. I do not see "Voukoder " in the rendering selections. Can you tell me how to get it and perhaps add it to the program?

@Peter-Nowinski Sorry about that. I responded with how you could use projects and/or clips of similarly large sizes in any version of Windows but deleted it as that wasn't really your question.
Download Voukoder (program- not pro) and connector from here and it will appear in VEGAS:
Try the x264 or x265 options for slow CPU-only encodes that can be very data miserly. Set a quality level of 23 for average quality or a higher number for lower quality/smaller file sizes.
@Peter-Nowinski follow instructions of @RogerS to get Voukoder for Vegas installed and operational. From now on enjoy carefree, fastest and high quality at smallest filesize renders with Vegas. For smallest files set a CRF greater than 23.
