Picked up a Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse and thought I'd pass along some interesting facets of same:
Beyond the normal left and right buttons and center scroll wheel there's also a side scroller and 4 extra buttons. (One behind the mouse wheel, two on the left side and a thumb-rest button. What's cool is that you can program (all) of the mouse buttons (and scrollers) with assigned tasks including keyboard shortcuts, folder paths, zooming etc. etc. and for ANY software application individually.
There's a universal setting page and then you just add all of your various software apps. Highlight one and then set your desired functions for each button. For instance with Vegas, I use the button behind the center roller to access a folder where I keep all of my stock footage and image folders and the other side scroller for timeline movement. I use the side back button for full screen on and off etc. etc. Still messing with it to see exactly what will be the best timesavers.
For instance, in my graphics software I use the side scroller to zoom in and out. On web browsers I use one button to pull up a calculator and on and on.
I know there's some product out there designed for editing that you can program for even MORE tasks but it's an adjunct to a mouse...so then you have a mouse, keyboard and the outboard piece.
It's already saving me time and thought I'd pass it along. It has probably been around for awhile but for those like me who didn't know about it, it's worth a look-see. Got mine for 89 on sale from 99.
It charges on a provided USB cord FAST. A full charge they say will last 2-3 months. I just stick it on the cord after leaving for the day once a week and it's always at or near a 100%. The online software for it is well thought out and EASY to figure out to make changes to everything single button AND for each selected software you desire.
In closing, you'll need an extra fine mouse pad (available anywhere like Staples) because it's a tad heavier than normal mice so you'll need an extra fine surface to slide around smoothly and easily. Mine does just that once getting the extra fine. Check it out online: LOGITECH MX MASTER 3. Other companies may make similar mice but I liked the feel of this one and the thumb rest is cool too.
I don't sell 'em or anything. Just found it interesting and it's already becoming a timesaver when editing or compositing, doing graphical work, sound mixing on a DAW etc. etc.
Hope this helps someone save a little time...
