Is Anyone Using the Logitech MX Master to Edit Videos?

IrishNachos wrote on 11/24/2023, 6:56 PM

UPDATE: Thank you, everyone! I tried to respond to each individual comment but couldn't figure out how. I know, I know. I think I'll treat myself to an early Christmas present.

Original Post: I'm considering switching from my basic mouse to the Logitech MX Master to see if it improves workflow. I understand you can assign editing functions to a variety of mouse buttons that act as shortcuts. With a little practice it could potentially save a ton of time on common editing tasks. If you've tried it please let me know if you liked it or not and why.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

100% Yes!

Been using the LOGI Mx range since they came out. The assignable Buttons for Vegas was a revelation. If I have a stack of Tracks then the Thumb Roll gets me from T1 to T8 immediately. Track heights can be adjusted just by clicking another set of Buttons. Zooming in and out is done at Warp10! Oh yeah, the MX3 has this Free.Spinning Thumbwheel technology, which has to be seen to be believed - marvellous. And then, assigning Buttons for other software has been a game changer. I use IZotope Rx Pro 10 advance, and the MX3 kicks down the door on tool track manipulation. When I use the MX3 in conjunction with my Contour Shuttle Pro2 is awesome.

As I said, I’ve experienced the MX Road map for a bunch of years and I’ve never regretted my decision at all. Please watch the Logitech Marketing Videos and learn more about what is being offered. Learn from the videos. Oh yeah, I don’t work for Logitech, however all their products understand what needs to be done, they learn from Users wishes and then implement those changes.

Oh yeah, Logitech Blue tooth, no more tethering with tangling Mouse Tail Trails 😂.

I use the MX Master 3. Absolutely love it. Thumbwheel will not work to scroll the Vegas timeline.

@Illusion - Zooming IN and OUT on the Thumb wheel yes, but not scrolling. Would be good if it did, but there again I have my Contour Shuttle Pro2 for that 😎.

Based on recommendations on the forum some time ago - especially from Grazie, I bought an MX Master early last year. It is terrific. What I especially like is the very user-friendly free-wheeling scroll wheel, and that I only need to recharge it via USB around once per month (no AA or AAA batteries required) - and I use it a lot. I'm super-happy that I bought it - it is by far the best mouse that I've ever used.

And @Dexcon I've just experimented with the sizing Thumbnails thingy too:

It works beautifully.

I use an MX Master 2S with my Zenbook laptop in blutooth mode. I seem to get 6 to 8 weeks between charges with a usb cable, being careful to switch it off when not using it. I like the mouse wheel better than the M705 usb wireless with eneloops that I use with my desktops ... I had to doctor the M705 wheel internally because it moved too freely. I particularly like the fact that I can sync the MX to an older Dell laptop and my wife's Surface Book using the 3 buttons on the bottom. I like the m705 mostly for being able to go a year or two between battery charges.

Thank you for sharing, this is great information. I'm still mulling over buying one but I'm leaning toward giving it a try.
