Media Not Importing

I am trying to import videos into my project and it won't work. I think it's because there are too many videos and when I am highlighting the videos it lags. There's about 178 videos and I can't even import half of them, however when I do a quarter of them they import. They are MOV files and I have tried several times but it still doesn't work. Every time I try and import them it doesn't load and then the project is frozen and I can't click anything so I have to use Task Manager to close it. I try to do a bit of videos at a time but that doesn't work either. I am using Sony Vegas Pro 13, what should I do? I would really appreciate help :)

Maybe best choice would be to transcode the MOV videos to a different format before importing into Vegas Pro. Do you have a transcoder tool available?

Have you tried importing them a dozen or so at a time? If you can then you can render them to a better editing format.

 

Or the codec they use is an issue. Importing a small number will let you know.

With large numbers of files I drag and drop say 20 at a time into the project media tab then when I release the mouse button I go and make a cup of tea. VP can take minutes to process them first time round. Just leave it alone for a few mins. I've had no probs with Canon mov files in the past. You may not necessarily need to convert.

I have tried to drop a few at a time, I will try again with less and I will convert them to mp4. Thank you for the help I will let you know what happens :)

I fixed the problem, thank you for all your suggestions it really helped! I had already converted the MOV files into mp4 files so they were all mixed together in the same folder and I was selecting a mix of MOV files and mp4 files instead of just the mp4 files. There were photos in the folder which was what confused me about which ones were MOV files and mp4 files because the photos messed up the pattern but I figured it out!
