‘Mercalli-Glitches’ in Vp14 and Vp15 with UHD output

sorry for hijacking the thread... but, does anyone have a problem with the last frame (few frames) being not stabilized? (so basically, it zooms out just for the last 1-2 frames of the clip)

the one option that seems to help get rid of it (although not completely... there's still seems to be a tiny bit of resizing happening) is to turn off the hardware acceleration in 'rendering' tab of the plugin.

Vegas 15 b.261;  mercalli 4.0.482.1 ; Amd r9 370

Looking at the updates history looks like they had this problem with After Effect plugin, but it was fixed in b480

What kind of footage are you using?

redpaw wrote on 12/11/2017, 8:54 AM

First i though it was only when using 4k footage from sony fs5 on 1080p25 timeline, but getting the same issue with mxf's from sony ex1 / 3 - with 1080p25 (matching the project details).

Got the latest build from the support, but that didnt help, just wondering is it another issue that vegas have with amd gpu's maybe ?

Two more questions. Do you see it already in the timeline - probably by stepping frame by frame? Is it reproducible or randomly spread over the project ?

redpaw wrote on 12/11/2017, 9:42 AM

oh yes, can see it straight away while previewing, and it is constant - every single clip has the same 'effect'

My footage is normally UHDp30, but I got some XAVC-S UHDp25 from a friend that I just used in the Vp15 B261 timeline with the current Mercalli 482 version and do not get these zoomed  frames at the end. Are you sure the ‘Quantize to Frames’ is active in your Vegas pro settings?

are you having the hardware acceleration ON? it's off by default.

(do you have amd or nvidia gpu?)

tried quantize to frames on and off, didnt make any difference...

it should be easier to see in here

here's the link to the mercalli preset if you're willing to try it...

My video acceleration is ON. I'm not using hardware acceleration in Mercalli. This woulde take more time to rendern on my system.

using the AMD R7 250. Dont think, that this can cause your problem.

Did you move/trimm and reanalyze your clips after switching to 'Quantize to Frames' ? This option should always be on !

You're a star Peter! It was quantize after all. had it always on, but working at the moment simultaneously on a project that i have stupid framerate to put on 25p timeline and had to switch it off.

after moving the clips (or trimming those half/frames) it seems to be ok now.

weird that it only happens when the hardware acceleration is on though.

thanks!

You are welcome.
I have placed the in on my Timeline Toolbar, to be informed that it is on.

good tip, although after i finish that project i dont think i'll have a need to switch if off again.

Unfortunately I have the same problem with the "last frame" bug. "Quantize to frames" is always checked, HW acceleration off as default. My project is a simple 1080p 25fps video with the same source files in that format. Every single clip shakes at the last frame, although I did the Mercalli as the last step after cutting/moving clips :(
Are there any other tips around?

@mrassau

What Vegas version are you using?

You may set the internal preferences to show the unquantized start & end in red with this setting:

Quantize to frames only aligns the beginning of the event. Perhaps "import at project frame rate" will align the final frame. Does work this way with some phone footage.
