Movie Studio Platinum 15 very unstable Win 10

Hello All,

Don't know what it is, but it is extremely frustrating...I have tried re-doing and re-rendering a video project, and it just freezes a little way into render (no error code just sits there). I am trying to render only about a 10 min 4k video. I also have the issues of the program crashing just trying to edit video clips etc. Not sure how to pull logs on that, so please let me know how to do that. I am running the latest build 157. I like the software, but these constant freezes and crashes are really getting annoying. Please let me know if there is anything I can provide, or if anyone has a fix they found for this.

My PC specs:

Win 10 Pro 64-Bit

Core i7-8700k

32GB DDR4 RAM

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5

My machine is pretty beefed up, so I doubt it's a lack of horsepower.

Thanks!

Chris

Horse power enough, but are you using the best drivers and we need more info about your projectsettings, exact sourcefile Info and exact rendertemplate.
How to provide these things read here : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

I do not have video card but I already had something similar in this same version of vms and I decided to evaluate the clips involved. I discovered that some were with different bitrate, size. I converted these clips keeping the same project rate and then solved the instability problem. From that moment on, he concludes that in order to use this program the user has to be strict with the clips in relation to the project, otherwise it could be a problem. This is the only recommendation that many people make.

Ok, so I was able to fix the rendering crash issue at least for now. I reset or purged the program cache by holding ctrl and alt and double clicking on the program.

To what you are asking for:

My specs for my case is:

Win 10 Pro build 1809

I am using latest Nvidia driver, 419.17

-GPU acceleration is on, using my GeForce card

Project properties:

-Template: 4k 2160-60p (3840x2160, 59.940 fps) I am using the default template settings, not custom settings

Render Settings:

-Again default settings (4k 2160, Profile: High, Frame rate: 59.94, Field Order: None(progressive scan), Variable bit rate: max=80,000,000 average=40,000,000)

Cameras used: GoPro Hero 6 Black in 4k 60 record mode.

Source file: 4k MP4 file generated by GoPro

I'm not sure how to easily paste in images, so I tried to include all the specifics from my output.

Again the render issue has been solved for now, but the crashing issue when editing videos has been happening fairly frequently. I do have to save often to avoid losing my data. The program does want to send an error report, so I am assuming there is a log file somewhere that I could possibly pull that data from?

Thanks!

Chris

You said noting about the codec, f.i. which one of these did you use?

and within that codec the used template

Cameras used: GoPro Hero 6 Black in 4k 60 record mode.

Source file: 4k MP4 file generated by GoPro

The choises within that GOPro are more than 1 type so publish here the MediaInfo of that use source file

Use this button above your next comment

Within that error message you'll find options to show the faulthy parts in your installation that is giving you that error.
You can also publish that error here or send it with an support message to the developpers. See here at point 9
