My Computer Is Shutting Off Mid Render / Almost Done Render

Hi there!

So, I've been having issues!

I can naturally assume that it may be the ram issue causing this, but if it isn't, I'd like suggestions on what else it could be!

For about a year everything was completely fine, then a few months after it started doing this. I would render in .wmv, .mp4 or .avi and it would only get half way rendered or stop at 90% and then the ENTIRE computer shuts off.

I can tell you, no it isn't over heating. I have 4 fans in my computer, and I've tried the method of having an actual fan on it in case it was overheating. It definitely IS NOT OVER HEATING.

I'm still having problems.

I would love to hear other suggestions from everyone, but keep in mind my computer isn't over heating.

Having 4 fans does not means it is not over heating. the only way to tell your computer is over heating on long rendering project is to install realtemp software to monitor it. If your CPU temp is in the 90+ and stay there. It is over heating. May required you to re- thermal paste on the CPU.

Idk my Husband continues to say it isn't over heating and its probably the ram issue. ;-;

In my experience (I'm no expert, but I've been messing with building and repairing computers for 20 years), I've seen RAM issues cause freezing or blue screens far more than the system shutting off completely. Those issues are usually related to the power supply, motherboard, or overheating. Since it shuts off when put under load, overheating becomes the prime candidate.

Install the software recommended above, and also do some memory tests. That's where I'd start.

Might want to check your Windows power saving/sleep setup. I find it best to set screen saving and sleep to "Never" and also select the High Performance power plan when doing over-night renders. Also shut your wifi off if you have that... don't need no windows updates while rendering.
