No sound on one of the tracks.

The problem concerns Vegas version 22 (build 194)

  • Operating system Windows 11 24H2
  • The problem concerns Vegas version 22 (build 194)

The problem is that I can't hear the sound from the track I pointed to in the image linked below with a red arrow. The sounds from all other tracks are audible correctly. Can anyone suggest how I can solve my problem?

Please forgive a beginner if I have uploaded the files incorrectly.

It turned out that the problem is not with muting the track, but with Vegas 22 itself. After creating a new project and adding the same media to the project, it turned out that there is no sound in the new project either.

I didn't have such problems in Vegas 21.

Also, are you using Microsoft Sound Mapper as the default playback device in Options/Preferences/Audio Device (tab)?

How do I check this?

We need more info to find out what the problem is.

  1. Is your file from a camera or phone. If so which?
  2. Provide MediaInfo on the file. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/
  3. In both your VP21 and VP22 right click on the clips audio on your timeline and select Properties. Go to the General tab and scroll down to Plug-in and report back on the names shown in each. I suspect they may be different.

The information I provided earlier was about VP22. Unfortunately, I currently do not have access to VP21 and do not know where I could download it from. I had to format the disk on my computer. After reinstalling the operating system, I downloaded Vegas Pro 22 as part of my Vegas Pro 365 subscription. After installing VP22, it turned out that VP22 does not read the audio.

Vegas Pro 21 builds and versions can be downloaded from:

To get back to Vegas Pro 21, you will first need to uninstall Vegas Pro 22.

No Audio and no rendering possible with m2ts files in Win11 24H2

Missing audio in m2ts, Vegas 22

gienek wrote on 12/27/2024, 6:51 AM

Sample of the video material I have a problem with.

Following the advice in the threads you linked, I installed the Microsoft Dolby AC3 Installer, but it didn't help. I still don't have sound in Vegas Pro. The sound works correctly in the Windows media player. Unfortunately, the subscription for Vegas Pro is charged monthly, and I can't use the program because someone overlooked that the new Windows operating system doesn't have the appropriate audio codec.

Is it possible to download and install the missing audio codec in Vegas Pro? If so, please provide a link.

RogerS wrote on 12/28/2024, 12:53 AM

Reverting to 23H2 should restore the audio codec (it was in Windows, not VEGAS). Otherwise convert the footage? https://www.shutterencoder.com/

gienek wrote on 12/28/2024, 4:19 AM

I am a practical person and I do not intend to pay for a subscription for a program that does not work well. I installed the trial version of Adobe Premiere and found that it has sound. There can only be one solution to my problem. I am canceling the subscription to the Vegas program and buying a subscription to Adobe Premiere. The price for home use is not much different.

RogerS wrote on 12/28/2024, 5:36 AM

In another thread a developer said they are working on a fix to this Windows codec issue.
