Anyway here's a update. I found the camera should be hooked up to the USB port so that you can select the files for importing through Windows. So the whole file structure was different looking. I opened Vegas Pro 14 and was able to import the first 2 clips, one at a time. It would not do a group import. After those 2 it balked and suggested I install QT - Quick Time version 7.7.9. - which I have done. I have viewed a clip or two on their player and they look just dandy.

I went back to Aiseesoft converter and tried like 80% of their conversion options but none would fly.

Am I going to have to try other converters like Handbrake, etc. to see which one may work?

Do I need a earlier version of QT so that it cooperates better with Vegas?

I did dl Handbrake and it would not encode a single file and when I tried the folder import version it would convert the first file but then stop doing the rest. Someone suggested Blender.

Maybe I can copy the files to a folder each and trick HB into doing the first one only? LOL ( I have about 7 critical files.)

The MediaInfo report, if complete, says that your file does not contain any video. It only has audio. Also very unusual is the audio format. mpeg layer 1. Of course layer 3 is "mp3" and I have seen some layer 2 but never layer 1. AAC is the most common compressed/lossy audio format being used.

I might try things on a win 7 pc I have with Vegas Pro 13. I am also setting up Blender with the video interface as default.

But from what bill-kranz says, he can open some of the files in some ways with video. So maybe MediaInfo can't understand the files fully.

No, 7.7.9 should be fine with VP14, if you need any Quicktime at all. If all else fails and you're absolutely desperate then you could try 7.6.2 which was the go-to version for older versions of Vegas for a while. But save that for later.

I would first try rewrapping to MP4 with FFmpeg. That should demux and remux whatever streams are in the files without recompressing them.

There are various other conversion programs listed in this post, some of which will only recompress and not losslessly rewrap.

Happy to try some things if you share a sample file.

I tried Xmedia Recode and it would only encode one of the files the rest failed.

Can you try this one as a sample? (The sample crashed the forum then a smaller file would not finish loading)

Also I tried to dl FFMpeg but must not have the PATH typed in correctly. The 4 files open up okay but in the CMD

all I get is : “ffmpeg” is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch command...

It is in this folder: This PC>New Volume C>

Also a side issue I tried to view the files via the micro HDMI to a Samsung smart TV and my PC monitor's HDMI and the source could not be found.

Hmm, only audio stream is detected... And the file size is just 3MB ?

That file is audio only by MediaInfo reports. It is also a bad/corrupt file, IMO. Nothing can play the audio. Quicktime (say file is invalid), VLC (nothing), ffplay (complains about MOOV atom). WMP gives some squeak sounds. Elecard Video format analyzer says the file is bad.

Thanks for looking into this. It is just a short clip. Perhaps they sent me a bad camera. I will go to the company and see what they can tell me. The camera does not have a audio only record mode. The instructions said to use only a high quality micro media card. Mine is a "HC 32 GB"

Suppose I could buy the best 4 or 8 GB micro card and do some test filming. I have other cams that use that style of card.
