Offical word on the Screen Capture issues: They are aware

Things happen and it is so important in today's world of internet commerce to let folks know what the response will be when things don't go as planned. Yes, I am loving ReLive that is the AMD utility (which I only know about be of the SC issue) but I think it says a lot that Magix recognizes our concerns and responses, a key reason I spent the $200 to upgrade when I didn't really need to. Thank you Magix.

Please don’t mistake my curiosity for snark. With all the screen recording program options available, why do we need that functionality in an NLE?

Depends on who are "we".
Users who know how to use such a program that Vegas can handle, maybe don't need it. But here also do come a lot of gamers and game play adepts that use what they find on YT and that is not always the best to use in Vegas.
Now in that Screencapture option the codec and settings are well.
But it can become better.
F.i. the 50p AVC I use in OBS to make screencaptures has a few times lower filesize and bitrate than the 30pAVC of this new option and unless my OBS filesize is lower the quality is higher.

I would say because form follows function, and having all things integrated into one platform reduces complexity instead of the complexity of multiple unrelated systems being used for the same tasks and makes the overall effect a simplification of such an overall system. I retired at 55 based on that reasoning put into practice.

Here's s good article covering Nvidia ShadowPlay compared to AMD ReLive. Both of those seem to run predominantly in their respective gpu's which would be a tough act to follow for an outside program like Vegas. There's also Fraps which runs independently of a gpu by essentially streaming lossless video into a file... that approach makes more sense for an NLE like Vegas if your intent is do Vegas tutorials that involve capturing editing sessions.

Yes that is a nice write up, the only error I saw regarding ReLive is that the max MBS is 96 MBS. Both tools are very good considering that they are a "add on" to the basic video/GPU cards. This made a big difference for me (I've had the card for 2 years and never bothered to check out what Relive was), as I am in the middle of a presentation to a meetup group and needed a Screen Capture tool. Except for Screen Capture, Vegas 17 is a perfect "value added" upgrade for me and it appears that Magix is aware and working on a fix for SC. The thing is, now I don't need it because ReLive is so fast on my 8 gig card unless SC can tie into the GPU with native code I don't see how it could be better than these two apps. What a great time for computer users.
