preview MXF thumbnails in V16?

Mindmatter wrote on 3/3/2019, 11:04 AM

Hi all,

as the title says, it would really be very useful if Vegas could show MXF thumbnails when importing clips. How come it doesn't? Or am I missing something obvious here?

thanks!

I'm getting thumbnails in Vp16 of MXF UHDp30 files out of a Sony X70 in the explorer and project media.

@Mindmatter

Details of format?

I see thumbnails with MXF files. In my case the files are not straight from a camera, but transcodes to XAVC-intra.

It's XAVC-I on my HD that I imported straight from my FS7 card. I only see the VCL roadhat thingy.

@Mindmatter here is the Mediainfo from a render using the Sony XAVC-Intra, which shows a thumbnail, so you can compare to that which you have from your FS7

I have flavors of Canon XAVC-I for which Windows Explorer doesn't display thumbnails, but Vegas 13, 14 and 15 displays them apparently using mxfxavc.dll.

John, thanks for the vid.

I might have been unclear in my formulating the issue - I got thumbnails once in the Vegas explorer too, but before importing them, I only see the VLC symbol, which makes it hard to know what you're dealing with when choosing between several dozens of clips in a folder.

With mp4 or XAVC-S from my Sony A7s, I get thumbnails though.

Eaglesix, this is my format:

@Mindmatter

Try to use the Vegas Explorer instead of Import Media.

Peter...thanks a bunch! Feeling silly I didn't think of that... all good now and much better even.
