Problem after updating Vegas 22. Does not open mp 4 mpeg-4 video codec

I don't know how else to describe the problem I'm having with this new update (B194). I've been working on a very large project for months and when I updated to B194 all my MP4 videos disappeared, and I can't get them reinstalled. I tried starting a new trial project, but, like my current stated project, it will not accept 'any' MP4 videos... it will accept the accompanying audio only.

@Precise and "B" and "C" from this POST. No one has any idea of what footage you are using, what your computer specs are. And even if you tried going back to the previous build, which you can do by downloading from this POST.

And it would be good to also provide (as I wrote in my previous reply to you) a sample of the problematic file, uploaded to the cloud.

@Precise said: "I've been working on a very large project for months and when I updated to B194 all my MP4 videos disappeared, and I can't get them reinstalled."

... and you didn't do a backup of your system image before you loaded an update to your software.

Shame! Shame! Shame on you!

@Precise I wouldn't feel ashamed as I suspect very few of us mortals go to John's extent of doing system image backups. Maybe System Restore.

Seriously though it's best not to update when in the middle of a project just in case you run unto problems....

Have you tried @set's suggestion? If it doesn't work for you then as a temporary solution to finish your project you could uninstall VP22 Build 194 then install the original build 93 followed by the 122 patch.

Yes! This method helped me too! Now everything is opening! Thanks a lot!

@Allariel, thank you for providing the Bandicam recorded sample. I'm sure this is similar to @Nikita-Nikita's

I can confirm by default only able to load audio, because it is decoded using newer mxcompoundplug.dll

After going to Options>Preferences>File I/O > and turn on 'Enable legacy AVC decoding', VP22 can open the media again using legacy so4compoundplug.dll decoder.

Use this alternative workflow temporarily for now in VP22b194.

Keep the media for sometimes so that I can also forward the sample to developers.

Ok, if anyone else having an issue with their MP4, other than Bandicam record, you're welcome to share your sample media for developers to identify. Hoping to make sure that newer mxcompoundplug.dll can surely compatible with many possible MP4 variations.
