project loading time in vegas pro14 extremely long compared to v13

Been looking forward to this version for a while now, and handling prores natively is HUGE thing!

Downloaded trial version of v14

and I did a simple test:

I created a  project where i loaded 124 4.2.2 prores quicktimes in the media bin, nothing in the editing tracks.(27.8 go of data)

*That said project takes 26 seconds to load in vegas 13 ( and then it starts building audio peaks, but you can still work with that in the bg). Obviously the i/o surrogate loads up quite a bit since it's all quicktime

*Same project takes at best 3 min to load in vegas 14( tried multiple times, resaving the project as a vegas14 proj after an initial 4min 26sec loading time) . i/o surrogate stays super low ( which is awesome) and memory used by vegas skyrockets past 1.5 go (assuming this is due to the native prores support) but no big deal. I'm more concerned about the minimum 6x increase in loading time for the same project. I have lots of projects that pull in way more data, and it seems crazy that the software would have become that slow.

I tried this on 2 different machines  ( windows 7 and windows 10 ) and got very similar results.

Any idea if that's due to the new way v14 handles prores? Anything that can be done to address this issue?

thanks a lot!!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can say that ProRes support in Vegas Pro 13 was so bad that it's not even worth comparing the load times.  The levels were messed up and it was closer to 7-bit precision than to 10 bits.  Those problems are fixed in Vegas Pro 14.

Rather than a ProRes-specific problem, I think this may be related to this issue with HDV in VP14 and this issue with XAVC-L. I think they might have changed something in VP14 to speed it up in some respects, but it causes these type of problems as a side effect. Submit a support request at https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form and it should reach the right people and help them fix it.

Edit: Here's the main thread where this issue is discussed: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/de/forum/vp-14-win10-out-of-memory-problem--103767/
