ProType Titler Improvements

Amivideotek wrote on 12/18/2019, 12:17 AM

Hello,

After years of using Vegas Pro, I have wrongly never paid much attention to the ProType Titler editor. And this because there are no visual presets at startup and you cannot use ProType Titler immediately before you have a minimum knowledge of it. But after a little practice I'm really surprised with all the possibilities that this editor offers.

That is why I made this intro to show you some functions of this very good editor. Everything in this intro was made with ProType Titler

Still, I found some improvements that I hope would be made in ProType Titler :
- Highlight the ProType Titler track when selecting a text in the  preview
- Synchronize the ProType Titler cursor positions on the Vegas Pro main timeline
- Quantize to Frames (snap cursor to frame positions)
- Select, Copy and Paste the ProType Titler keyframes
- The ability to mutually change the position of the ProType Titler tracks
- Change an element anchor point by entering its positions manually separately from its offset position
- The ability to animate a path
- Include presets for the path as circle, square, rectangle, triangle, star , ...
- Improvement the path bezier handles (move handles separately to create sharp corners easier)
- By using sharp corners in the path : Also provide characters in all the sharp corners from the path to get a continuous line (when I set a very small space between characters (dots) and so I can animate the line.)

Greetings Alain Milants

@Amivideotek - I commend your visuals. Been there and done most of that, really I have. But PTT is like the proverbial Train that started out on spanking, brand new silver-glistening steel tracks that took a wrong points turn into the “Desert of All Lost Causes”; the tracks ran straight for a few hundred kilometres but finally petered-out 10 klicks outta “Nowhere City” beyond the town of “Rolling Tumbleweed”.

Your List of shortfalls is also well put together too. You can Add to it the lack of getting it back on Track! Or more importantly, the lack of urgency, drive to do it.

Yes, it's really a pity that Magix depreciated the Protype Titler, when I see what a creative editor as Alain can do with it. Amazing. Could you share with us the veggie of your intro show?

Thanks Alain, but unfortunately I'm not able top open your zipped file. I'm also wondering that it's that big (199 Mb), a project veggie is normally just a few Kb.

Marco. wrote on 12/18/2019, 3:16 AM

Except the project file the folder also contains all media, just like the sound(effects), some grafic files and the final video. That's why it is that big.

The project also uses the HitFilm Fractal Noise Media Generator. If not installed it will throw an error message on project start. Cool project, though, with 69 tracks.

I agree. I guess they deprecated it because it was created by an external company and no one can maintain/modify its code.

You have to use Winrar to unpack that Rar files and than you get this:

I recommend 7-zip. It is free and opens ZIP, RAR and many other formats.

I doubt this is true, as the current titler in use for VP17 utilizes some features of protype's titler. My guess is they realized they had 4 titlers, and needed to get that down to 1 that they could then begin focusing development time on in order to build it into a more professional titler system.

Amivideotek wrote on 12/21/2019, 4:21 AM

I've found how to animate a line with sharp corners in ProType Titler.
Very easy : make a cascade of the first character and place the middle of this character down to the center of the path. All the other characters will follow. The lines in the corners will be drawn precisely now.

So they abandon the best one rather than unite all advantages of all titlers to a new one. Put it simply, it may be because they don't have the capacity to unite thses titlers. If they can unite all the advantages of all titlers it will be wonderful just like that ParticleIllusion plugin has been updated with keyframe, adjustable position, integrated mocha and so on by new owner borisFX. If VEGAS team has this capacity it will be wonderful!

the best is blufftitler. but it's not a plugin. is intuitive and simple

Alan-Tutt wrote on 12/21/2019, 6:18 PM

Blufftitler is great, but I wouldn't call it intuitive. For me, NewBlueFX's Titler Pro is the easiest to understand, although I will quickly admit it's not the most powerful or flexible.

fifonik wrote on 12/22/2019, 5:21 AM

I do use ProType Titler and also do not understand why it was deprecated. For me it is the most powerful in-built titler.

Well! Right after I also left behind a somewhat deprecating comment I went back to fooling around with the newest version and as soon as I realized how nicely the new ProType aligns paragraphs and with perfect kerning no less I knew I will be sticking to it.

That's joyful enough for me to work some more to get a better hang of it. I have to agree with Walter above: it now looks like the most powerful in-built titler I have come across too. May I ask who rebuilt this? In house or subcontracted to someone outside?
