Radeon video card

I have installed an AMD Radeon RX580 video card to use with Movie Studio 15--I can tell absolutely zero difference in rendering times-still pauses and hangs in multicam mode. Is this normal-is there a video card available that will be of some use with Vegas 15? I have Windows 10-i7 Intel processor and 23Gb ram-I also made sure the card was set up in preferences in Movie Studio-thanks much!

Short answer: No. The latest versions of Vegas 17 best leverage GPU's but even then the CPU is very important and there is still lots of optimization work to be done. You could download a trial to see if you get much of a bump using the rx580.

I have a sapphire rx580+ in my xeon system and get reasonably good gpu performance with render presets that use the gpu. I've gotten similar render times on it with Vegas 13, 14, 16, and 17 doing multicam to sony mxf, sony avc, and magix avc. I skipped v15 but I expect it would be similar too. v17 build 421 might give marginally better performance on source tracks in a supported amd decoding format like mp4/avc. Here's some benchmarks I recorded on it with v16 to Magix avc:
