Rendering a video and the preview are black

Karafakeu wrote on 6/16/2022, 8:17 AM

Hello, Im having a really weird issue and need a fix asap. Basicly Ive edited my video, but during the editing i have noticed that the preview is all black, but whenever i play a video on my pc (thru files) it loads the preview up again for like 15 secs, then goes back to black. The same when rendering, first 20 seconds are normal but then the video goes black. The audio works perfect. Please help me.

@Karafakeu

Long ago, in a land far away there was a man who wandered around teaching others how to fish.

No idea how to help you with zero details like the version of Vegas, CPU and GPU hardware, type of media, etc.

@RogerS sorry, vegas 16.0, i3 cpu and intel uhd 620 gpu. Type of media i suppose is .MOV

@Karafakeu MOV is a container that can have anything in it. If you click on the link that @john_dennis provided, and follow the instructions, you stand a chance of possibly getting the help you need.

Re: Media, what is it specifically? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

It sounds like there is a decoding problem with VP 16 and this media. You could try to disable so4compound in internal preferences (hold shift, go into preferences and it should appear. Change true to false and restart Vegas).

Another thing to try would be to re-encode the media to a version of AVC that Vegas likes. I use ShutterEncoder for this as it's free and relatively foolproof. You can see if that decodes better on one file and if so apply this to all the files you have at once and then replace the media in Vegas.

@robertoot2 The so4 helped. It still renders weirdly. It only renders half of a video. I rendered both halves, put them together and rendered it again, and i have the complete version. Thanks!
