Slow Render problem!

Stefanos-RoussosMolfetas wrote on 5/12/2020, 1:46 AM

Greetings
Before you read this, I have to warn you that English is not my first language so expect some errors :P

I recently upgrade my VegasPro 15 to 17.
Sadly while on 15 I had no problems whatsoever, it seems like 17 is another story.
First of all I am using Vegas for work and I render 2 1 hour long videos pair day and sometimes 3, my problem is the slower render speed, on 15 I had render time 19 minutes for each video now on Pro17 each video takes 35 to 40 minutes to render, as you can imagine this is a huge set back to my work and to be honest here as the time I am writing this I have not sleep through the night and I have to shoot and edit videos today too, also the program froze and crashed when it render a simple dissolve effect and I am not going crazy wwith the effeects, thank God the clips are simple and I use Color Correction, levels and sharpen on the clips. The cherry of the cake is that the render time continues to slow down.

I have try all the setting on the program and I have watch all the videos too suggesting the said settings and I am using my GPU too for the render but with no effect.

Please help a brother out because I am pretty desperate here :(

I want to go to 20 minutes of render time just like it was on VegasPro15

Sorry it does not work at all, it is still stuck, in fact with those settings it takes more time now.

That is a nice computer, but you don't tell which media ( MediaInfo) you are using and were it is stored on that computer, nothing about your projectproperties and nothing about your used rendertemplate.
Which driverversion exactly is loaded for your Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti?

Also my settings are the those

walter-i. wrote on 5/12/2020, 2:58 PM

In my opinion there are some differences:
Footage is 1920X1080 - Project properties are 1440x1080 (set it to 1920x1080)
Custom Settings: once "Variable Bit Rate" and under RC mode "CBR" (set under RC mode "VBR")
I think, the bit rate is to low (max 10.000.000, min. 8.000.000) set it to max. 40.000.000, min. 20.000.000
Preferences: The "File I / O"-tab would be interesting - please show us a screenshot

Sadly back to 40+

j-v wrote on 5/12/2020, 3:34 PM

Nothing wrong with the choosen bitrate for HEVC because the source has lower bitrate for AVC.
HEVC can get at least a 20% lower bitrate.
The projectsettings seem totally wrong.
Set your project this

In order to let the Nvidia do its job good for acceleration and encoding it is important to use the best drivers. I did ask you but you don't tell us.

I am sorry, I am editing while I write here , I use the default ones that you get from their site, unless there other drivers that I should be aware of.

j-v wrote on 5/12/2020, 3:56 PM

You are showing here all that you have installed from Nvidia and that all you don't need for Vegas Pro 17.
You have to look for the latest Nvidia Studio driver and you must install only those drivers for stabil working with an edit program like Vegas.
Search for this

and you will find this

Install only the videodrivers with a clean install.

PS.

Render not to your documents with that is on the C:/ location.
Render to another disc or partition with enough space.
Also for velocity it is better to store your sourcefiles on another disc with enough space, not an USB location.

Done but it is nowhere near the old speeds, it has improved but not that much.

j-v wrote on 5/12/2020, 6:04 PM

That it looks not to me.
As I see your estimated filesize of 3GB with the template you showed before, your project must be about 54 minutes long with the rendertemplate you showed. But the lenght of the project you never told or showed us, only that it was "Slow Render" from the title of your post.
A 40 minutes render is pretty fast for such a project, much faster than realtime rendering.
I cannot help you further because that is also the limit with me and VPro 17 on my laptop.
BTW. I don't think Vegas 15 can render it in 20 minutes as you stated in your O.P.

25, I mean it is a lot quicker then 38 or 40.
I can not accept that the new version is slower then the old one.

I tried a basic transcode with vp17. for 25min 1080p30fps AVC video encoded to 1080p30fps HEVC(Nvenc) it takes 9min. Any VFX will increase the time. my cpu is i7 4core, same speed as yours

Stefanos-RoussosMolfetas wrote on 5/12/2020, 9:33 PM

The clips I use are already edited and rendered individually before the final render, at the end I just put them together, the only extras are a looped music and 2 pnd images that shows some phone number and a youtube chanel, but I dought those can put such a burden to the project.
