static noise playback

BONLEV wrote on 2/11/2025, 1:20 PM

When I playback my video in vegas pro 21 build 315 I always have some backround noise in my headphone. This happens only in vegas. I just upgraded to build 315 if this would solved the problem but is not.

I have a msi realtek audio.In audio device type under preferencs in vegas pro I tried all them to test but no difference.

Maybe I have to restart vegas to check? I don't know.

I read somewhere to change the frequency in the realtek program? I have 44100Hz, 48000Hz, ... 16bits, 24bits.

@BONLEV Please post Mediainfo report for the media on your Vegas Pro timeline. Also, upload a sample of the offending media to a cloud share such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc. and post a link here on the forum. There have been media decode issues in various Vegas Pro versions with various different sorts of media.

I recorded a sample but I couldn't hear the noise in that sample. very strange so I would not share it.

I shared 4 mediainfo files: from my current project I used the sony NX800 and sony FX6. Lots of noise during playback in vegas and also noise (but less noisy) when playing outside of vegas.

I had some samples from a A7IV and a gopro 7 black. Both plays fine without noise outside of vegas.

I can hear a slight noise of the A7IV inside vegas and a slight noise of the gopro inside of vegas.

Scrubbing through the timelime is also noisy (maybe this is normal?)

I just rendered the first part of my stage show I had filmed in vegas 21 build 315. On several parts of the sony FX6 (global view) the footage is stuttering in the final video. Not in the close ups of my hxr-nx800.

I thought I go back to the previous build but my project was already saved and it won't open in that previous/older build.

So I took the risk to buy the version 22 (the trial would not me render more than 2 minutes) but the problem with the noise and the stuttering is still there.

I recorded with my phone my screen. (no audio in this sample)

The strange this is if I render a part of the project (about 90 seconds for this test) there is no stuttering...

But cams were on 25p (checked it). It is the first time i have this issue.

It's too vague to really help you with. What's the media? Are there Fx in use? Do the project properties and the media frame rate match? Is it a decoding or encoding issue?

media is mp4 8bit and mp3 audio. no fx in use. project properties and media framerate match. Just playing the footage already gives this problem. Now It doesn't import no audio anymore from these mp4 files (version 239) No problem in vegas pro 21 where it does import the audio.

Can you share a file that doesn't play audio anymore for testing? Google Drive, Dropbox, would work for this.
If there are other files with noise a sample of that would also be good o test here.

Here's how to give full MediaInfo by the way:

@BONLEV

When I playback my video in vegas pro 21 build 315 I always have some backround noise in my headphone. This happens only in vegas

Those background noises that you pointed out are a bug that I'm dealing with since version 19.  There is no standard for this to happen; it can happen with PCM, ACC audio, and AVC, XAVC, MOV, MTS, and M2T video formats. It's hard to know what causes this in Vegas. At least in my editing routine, this has been happening since version 19.

The only solution that I found out through the years when that bug happens is to apply De-Click Plugin (I use Izotope RX) on the audio and get rid of those background noises.

VP22 (239)

when I drag the same clip into VP22 I don't have the audio channels. No problem with the same clip in VP21. I was previously on the latest beta version because I had to import + 8 hours of video. Now my aftermovie of that big project is finished I went back to the latest official realase of VP22. I also had no audio in the beta version but I didn't mind because it was for a aftermovie so it was mixed on music.
