as for Nvidia NVDEC On my Nivdia Geforce RTX 3060 it can decode (10Bit 420) from Panasonic Lumix S1 but it cant seem to decode the file you sent. it works on Intel IGPU but not on Nvidia. your HEVC video is the first (10Bit 420) file which My RTX 3060 Cant seem to decode i never encountered this before.

@Abubakar AMD and Nvidia GPU's don't decode the majority of 10 bit HEVC camera codecs on Vegas. It does decode 10bit 420 HEVC video from my Samsung phone. Here's a test file from Sony A7sIII that also doesn't work with GPU decode.

And important to remember your rtx3060 does decode all HEVC 420 10bit camera files, Vegas Pro doesn't.

@Former user I have plenty of Videos which i recorded on my Sony A7IV in (HEVC 10 bit 420) and Both Intel and Nvidia can decode the videos perfectly fine. the file you sent can be decoded on my Intel but not on Nvidia. i don't know why because Both Sony A7IV and Sony A7S3 have the same codecs.

everyone who mostly use Vegas Pro as there main Video editing software should have an Intel 12 Gen CPU. since i got the Intel I7 12700K i never made proxies again and i can edit almost every codec without an issue even Raw Videos. i also Have another PC also with AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with RTX 3050 but with HEVC file especially (10 Bit 422) cant work on it without proxies.

I get good performance decoding 4k 10-bit hevc 420 with an Intel uhd630 igpu or adding an Nvidia 1660s as a 2nd gpu... I added an Nvidia to a xeon system which had no igpu and it helped allot. Also added one to a 11900k system to alleviate the disappointing performance of the uhd750. Swapping the Nvidia for an Intel Arc a380 was even better and costs less than a 1660... plus adds the ability to decode hevc 422. Just keep in mind that adding a 2nd gpu knocks the pcie speed down to x8 for both gpus. But Vegas benefits from splitting the load... gameplay on the same machine might suffer, however.

@Howard-Vigorita Before the Intel 12 Gen and now 13 Gen Processors i would not have recommended Intel. Now in Both of these Intel Processors use the Same IGPU great for Video Encoding. I am happy that Vegas Pro has the option to distribute its work on Both IGPU and Dedicated GPU. Vegas pro has never worked so great for me until i Upgraded to intel 12700K.

Use the Intel 770 IGPU as Hardware Decoder. &

GPU Acceleration of Video Processing Select NVIDA Intel Arc GPU or AMD

Vegas Pro is very stable and fast its like a completely new program now. if you want the best experience then even upgrading to the Intel Core i5-12600K would give you the performance and stability you always wanted. because it has the same intel 770 IGPU as the I7 12700K and I9 12900K.

if Previous Gen Intel worked great for you. then believe me the 12 Gen will really Help allot more then your expectations.

@Abubakar Can you upload a short HEVC 420 10bit file to a file sharing site and we can check, it does sound curious?

everyone who mostly use Vegas Pro as there main Video editing software should have an Intel 12 Gen CPU. since i got the Intel I7 12700K i never made proxies again and i can edit almost every codec without an issue even Raw Videos.

The options are, Magix fixes their software or the customer has to buy a new motherboard, cpu, and ram to fix their problem

i also Have another PC also with AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with RTX 3050 but with HEVC file especially (10 Bit 422) cant work on it without proxies.

That's a different issue, Intel has HEVC 422 10bit decode, Nvidia doesn't. They both have HEVC 420 10bit decode, but the GPU decode doesn't work on Nvidia/Amd in Vegas for many camera files. If you were buying a new system, then I agree buy the Intel 13600K/13700K

@Former user

I've been playing your file (the latest you share) on my laptop using qsv decoder.

With hevc legacy ticked, the preview at full best is 20/25 fps.

With hevc legacy unticked, the preview at full best is 52/55fps. Not full fps but no big deal for editing.

With the 3080ti set as decoder, impossible to run it smoothly whatever hevc legacy option chosen.

Intel graphics is the way to go with Vegas to decode 420 10 files until the decoder is fixed with Nvidia GPU.
