I find myself in need of Text to Speech. I know Vegas 365 has it, but I cannot find out if there is a limit in using this? It may turn out to be cheaper for me to upgrade to V21 using Vegas 365 than a subscription to other text to speech services. Does anyone know if there are limits -- and what they are?
Good question- haven't hit any limits myself but maybe ask Magix sales?
I couldn't find a way to telephone the sales department .. so I started a support ticket asking what the limits were for text to speech. Seems like an important question if the limit is small. I don't think you can test the text to speech in the trial version, but i think they are using the Microsoft text to speech.
Magix responded on the question of limits for Text to Speech
"Thank you for your message. There is a monthly character limit for this feature and the limits are as follows:
Edit: 50k, Suite: 100k, Post: 200k monthly

50K per month? I think I can get the same Microsoft voices with limits of 500K per day (so that would be about 15,000,000 characters a month) .for $10 a month.
@xberk, Allow me to gently point out that we are not Microsoft. We pay for each character you use and we have to manage those costs of goods sold.

As we learn more about what customers use these services for, we can more effectively tailor them to your needs. If you reach a usage limit, please contact us. With the concept of what's fair and reasonable in mind, we may consider increasing your limit at least temporarily once we understand a bit more about your use situation.
I wonder if there's a way to hook a Microsoft subscription into Vegas for the best of both worlds?

Thanks to customer service and to Gary -- I'm just starting to look around as I think Text to Speech and Speech to Speech are going to be part of my future. I fully understand that limits are needed to control costs. Thanks for the replies. Good to know.
