Troubleshooting a vegas crash - what log files should I be reviewing?

Hello all:

I recently got the Intel HEVC hardware encoder to work - but now I am getting an odd runtime error while encoding (happened 5% into a one hour video). Can someone point out where I can find the relevant crash information? I'm assuming its in the program files\vegas directory somewhere but can't come up with anything obvious.

Thanks

It's been discussed here, but I haven't seen any movement in the direction of verbose, human readable logs.

Maybe someone knows.

ken-dehoff Your fix to get QSV working for HEVC is unfortunately the opposite of one of the things chaz-warkulwiz had to do to get rendering working. It seems for the moment you can have either quick HEVC rendering, or complete HEVC rendering, but not both.

This post may help you with crash logs.

Nick:

The failure I saw was actually from one of the plugins (Mercalli)- it didn't properly crash Vegas, just hung it up. I was hoping to get more information as to what's going on. chaz' problems documented sound alot more acute than mine was - if render as would hang. I'm glad I didn't have to go through his hoops.

There are lots of log files in your temporary files folder as shown at the bottom of the Vegas general preferences video. Mine is C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\15.0. But I suppose some plugin-specific logs may be elsewhere.
