First of all, it's disappointing. I raised a problem with build 361 and expected that the bug would be fixed in the next update, but build 381 is the same.
An invitation to download and install Build 381 popped into my face while working with 361 so I went ahead and started the download process and everything went smoothly right up to opening 381 and I could continue in my work, just like that! This is a first for me because all the preceding downloads with an already opened Vegas had failed me. A good sign indeed. Thank you, MAGIX.

Yep, no prob here so far, installed n back working 👍
Installations bombs out for me, I get the pop up to update, It downloads (around 800+ MB), it ask to install (2 options) - I tried both, then I get a new popup to inform me there is an update, so back to square one...
mmm, I just noticed the second time update popup is not about vegas, but of vegas effects, I missed that one, it was smaller in size anyway which baffled me before I now realize it is vegas effect.
Still I do not succeed in installing the update for both 19 and effects (download OK), I will try to figure it out why.
Yay! 381 opens much quicker and there's no crash window when closing. Excellent.
The update took about 2 hours to download but installed without a problem as they generally do, but I did encounter an update failure a year or so ago after the 'update now' button was selected. VP closed down on the desktop but a window popped up saying that VP need to be closed. After going to the Task Manager and the VP entries still lurking there were 'end tasked', the update then proceeded properly.
It is installed now, found what was wrong, I recently set a different path for the default temporary files folder in the preferences- general path: instead of C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0\, I had it on another drive and did not copy the historical contends. Apparently Vegas update stores the updates in that location, and may not like it being in another location when trying to install (maybe not finding other stuff it needs). But that was not enough...
Changing the default temporary files folder back to the original default did at first also fail to update - until I noticed 3x VEGAS present in the task manager, although Vegas was closed. After kicking the 3x vegas out of the taskmanager I could execute and install the update by running the downloaded file in C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0\

@bitman After clicking the update install Vegas will close, you have to leave the program alone for a bit as it's working in the background with notification on screen, a pop up installer window will show after a short while

@Dexcon the vegas download in my case was always about 8 minutes (the vegas effect another 3 minutes), but since I downloaded it couple of times (more than 5 x times trying to figure out why it would not install) I guess I am lucky it did not take me each time 2 hours like you 😃
@walter-i. ... Clearly. The advantage must surely be that Austria is a shorter name than Australia (less 'al'). Ergo, shorter country name = shorter download times (TIC 😏).
The update download also took about 2 hours for the laptop (it's wireless, whereas the desktop is wired - so both are much the same). Usually, the update downloads are much, much quicker than that - maybe its the Euro/US server that I got connected to.
A speed test on the laptop right now shows download at 54.2 Mbps and upload at 17.7 Mbps. Not the fastest in the world - and I've got a 50 Mbps plan whereas the max DL in AU is 100 Mbps. Some places in NZ have 10 times that - Dunedin????.
Looks like (so far anyway) the UI corruption bug with timestretch sound has been fixed as I can play an offending V18 project with no menu white block. well done super team.
