For me, two features alone make it a good thing - Native XD Cam EX handling, and "includes support for still images greater than one gigapixel in resolution"
leslie, I bought my very first version under educational pricing (substantial savings) but have alwyas paid the regular upgrade price since.
I believe that educational pricing is only applicable to brand new copies.
[i]"When I tried again, Vegas 9 upgrade was placed in the basket without the intermediate step for choosing my limited-time offer ad-on. What the ... ?"
Doesn't work - hopefully when I get the e-mail with code, it will bring this functionality back.
BTW, which one do you think is most worthwhile:
NewBlue Sampler Pack, The Sony Sound Effects Series sampler, or Sound Forge Audio Studio software?
My price was showed in Euro and ex vat.
Have never payed vat for downloadsoftwares from US before.
If I must pay 25% vat (Sweden) an upgrade gonna cost me over 300 dollars (the swedish krona is very cheap now).
Anyone from Europe that have ordered yet and know about vat or not for the download upgrade ?
/Aje
I have always had to pay UK VAT on my Sony software download purchases (including upgrades) because my credit card is a UK one, even though I've never used the software in the UK.
"NewBlue Sampler Pack, The Sony Sound Effects Series sampler, or Sound Forge Audio Studio software? "
I believe I would go for the Soundforge Audio Studio software - assuming it comes with the "1001 sound effects' included - Just need more details - going to wait and see if more are available and more clarity on ordering information so the free add on is included, seems it should be a choice when you order - odd it's showing up right now.
OK this is a bit vague... Vegas already does Broadcast Wave Import... does it now export Broadcast Wave or is SCS being a little too cute with their wording???
Broadcast Wave Format Support
Anyone able to clarify this... and I don't mean what a broadcast wave file is, I know that, but whether Vegas 9 can actually render one?
When I looked at the stand alone package - the consumer verion has it in there - the pro version does not - that's why I would be interested in more specifics - the new mixing console in Vegas 9 appears to have all the sound edtting built in to it - reverb etc, so not sure why it would add any value if it didn't include the 1001 effects?
The sound effects package option is onley 200 sound effects and are those not included in any other package.
I'm surprised so many people are preordered today. Why?
*many people complained about vegas 8, you'd think people would wait & see how vegas 9 turns out. Just because it being broken could be worth paying an extra $50 down the road on a patch.
*They didn't do their normal discount. they could, but if it comes out people will complain they got the higher price, so why not wait a few days?
The new FX look really sweet though. I could really use those. But I just bought cinescore + a pack & my wife wouldn't be happy if I shelled out $200 now, so maybe I'll wait for Vegas 10.
Looking back at my old purchases, it looks like I paid $134.95 for a Vegas 7 => Vegas 8 Pro Upgrade on 9/10/2007. It looks like there was a $100 discount of some sort. Can anyone confirm this?
Is it that the aforementioned $50 discount is the 2009 version of my previous $100 discount, or is $234 the total cost after a $50 discount?
Upgrade any previous version of Vegas Pro software and you'll save $50 and get your choice free:
New Blue Sample Pack
Sony Sound Effects Series
Sound Forge Audio Studio
This leads me to believe there is the choice of a freeby and a $50 discount. However, having been through the checkout, it looks like the $50 discount is represented in kind by the freebys. Unless the $249.95 price itself represents a discounted price, I see no $50 discount.
...from Import-Export page, there's comment about importing BWF files, no comment about saving whereas down the page, the checked/unchecked features shows two checks (import/export? no precision...) on the WAV line (titled Windows wave broadcast wave).

8 was never broken.... it did have issues. But with a few work arounds installed all is well... so what's the problem?
By your definition I PROMISE you 9 will be "broken" too.
