It's impossible to work smoothly and happily with this program. Vegas 23 is a complete disaster. How can they release another version if nothing in it works properly? Customer service is critical. I've been waiting two weeks for any contact from them after I filed a complaint. Don't buy the new version. Switch to Davinci Resolve, and you'll see how much more enjoyable it is to work with.

Hello, I wanted to write to all those who are afraid of switching to a system other than Vegas, just as I was. I filed a complaint, and it took Magix support three weeks to respond to my complaint, but they finally refunded me the purchase price for version 23. After 15 years, I'm leaving this stagnation with great regret, but also excitement. With each subsequent version of Vegas, it only gets worse. The work becomes unbearable, working on large projects is terrible, and I've lost my patience. But believe me, there really are programs you can work with with pleasure and a smile on your face. So much for the complaints. Best regards, and maybe we'll see each other again someday! :)

It is not about being "afraid" to switch to another editor (I have used many over the years looking for the one that edits the way I like), it is about using what works best for the individual. I have 6 different editing software on my computer. They all work, and even have some features Vegas doesn't. But when I want to edit, it has always been Vegas that I open first.

I do have to admit that this version has had a rough start for a lot of people. But I am putting my trust in the VEGAS team to get things working as they should.

I have K-Lite installed on a couple of my computers and it's never been a problem. I use those computers when I need codecs not available on my main work-horses.

Thumbnails have always been an issue for me with Vegas because I end up getting hundreds of split clips in my longer multicam projects which are only visible enough to keep my projects twinkling for minutes every time I load it or zoom the timeline. My easy fix is to turn timeline thumbnails off in Vegas Video Preferences. Or at least limit them to heads & tails for shorter projects with fewer events.

The other place I've found thumbnails a problem is on the Project Media and Explorer panes... I think these thumbnails might still be cached to disk somewhere. In the past I used to have to reset Vegas to blast them if any got corrupted or the folder got so overpopulated that it stalled the Windows file system. So I avoid thumbnail-view.

I've found the Vegas thumbnail problems have little if anything to do with whether K-Lite is installed or not. Unless it is installed and is seriously out-of-date... the solution to that is to either remove or update it.
