Vegas 5 : Tell us what you need

And on the audio interfaces, let's support all the popular standards like 16/44.1, 16/48, 24/48, 24/96, 24/192, etc. I need Adat, Tascam, AES, S/PDIF, and most definitely WORDCLOCK I/O! As far as I've been able to surmise, nobody's interfaces can do all this AND have stable drivers capable of being simultaneously utilized by multiple concurrent apps.

If they don't read the whole thread, then they aught to get their behinds kicked.

Have to add a couple after having this recent discussion in a thread....although it's so far down on the list, I doubt Peter's even reading this thread any longer.

Nudging feature enhancements:
1. Numeric Keys 4 and 6 using for nudging and triming events are dependant upon of your zoom view. It would be nice to display what that value actually is and take the guess work out of editing.

2. Numeric Keys 1 and 3 are nudge keyboard shortcuts with a resolution of 1 frame and are independant of the zoom. This works for me, but would be nice if the user could define this nudge value within the "Preferences".

Rednroll,

Rest assured, the Vegas audio team is paying very close attention to this list. I read about twice a week, and would not be surprised if others on the team read it even more frequently.

1. Single file for surround encoded material (i.e. multichannel wav) (Put this in ACID 5.0 Pro also)
2. Surround plugins
3. DTS / Dolby Prologic IIx / MLP encoder
4. Rewire
5. Control Surface Support

Thanks!

- Do a Vegas Audio and a Vegas Video versions if you cant combine all the features
-Integrate multiple MIDI-compatible control surfaces (Mackie, CM Labs, HUI,DM-24,more)
-MIDI implementation (like midi of SONAR not like Midi of Acid)
-ACID-loop & MIDI Groove Clip support (tools and performance like ACID not like sonar)
-Support for DXi & VSTi soft synths
-Support for ReWire 1.0 & 2.0 clients
-User-definable keyboard shortcuts
-A console view
-More stability than Acid 4

Streamline the visual elements of the interface. I love the way it works, but if you could reduce (somewhat--consider the middle-aged eyes out here) the size of things:

* faders can be a lot thinner, somewhat shorter
* Allow the track strip to show more of its ellements even when it's shrunk
* Reduce the number and size of "empty" areas like the area to the right of the shuttle controls and the area where the "Rate" slider lies.
* more efficient use of space in effects, pan/crop etc dialogs

Anything to give us more space for tracks and effects windows.

MIDI

* volume control on metronome
* ability to ues custom sound (MIDI?) for metronome
* unearth tempo control. should be a 2-click operationI can do while project is playing or recording.

Thanks for a great program.

I would also like to see midi capabilities in Vegas.

1) ACID TOOLS
2)INTEGRATION OF A MIDI SEQUENCER WITH VSTi AND DXi SUPPORT
3)REWIRE
4)Integrate multiple MIDI-compatible control surfaces (Mackie, CM Labs, HUI,TASCAM,YAMAHA& **THE NEW SONY VEGAS CONTROL SURFACE**)

**IF I HAVE THIS FEATURES AND I CAN WORK AS FAST LIKE I WORK WITH VEGAS4, I WILLTHROW TO THE GARBAGE BASKET MY SONAR PRODUCER SOFTWARE**

Hi Allofyou!

is it possible to get a list where all suggestions are summerised? It takes a lot of time reading all posts and if we had a list there were no double posts...

thanxs

Why have ANY video editing features?. I never upgraded my original version of Vegas. I JUST need a robust audio multitracking system. The market is saturated with video editing packages.

If you must continue to go down the video editing path with Vegas, why not make Sound Forge a multi-track editing system?

I know this has been brought up many times. It is a very simple feature that seems odd to leave out. I am coming from SAW which has had this feature forever. SImple, and VERY handy for all sorts of effects, yet rare on other DAWs for some reason. You just apply reverse on the track and it shows the waveform reversed and everything non-destructively. The one thing SAW never did was proper trimming with reversed regions, but I can live with that.

My grandfather always told me "before you go outside make sure your shoes are tied" All I need is a stable app.

i would like to be able to render all my tracks to a separate file without having to assign them to a separate buss. i just want to hit one button and walk away. acid had this feature a while back, not sure if it has it still.
Foreverain4 wrote on 12/16/2003, 5:37 AM
also, with the option to render or mute track fx...

DVD authoring totally integrated on the timeline. (Significant edge over the competition)

DVD-9 output support. (Needed to match Encore DVD)

Tape Output (DLT, etc.). (Needed to match Encore DVD)

I've made a dozen suggestions, mostly video-related, on the product suggestion page, so I won't repeat them here. Here are some that are relevant to audio:

1. Fix the bug in the ASIO drivers that causes loss of sync between Video Preview and associated audio. I have to use Classic Windows drivers to keep things in sync.

2. Allow VST plug-ins in addition to DirectX.

3. Let you select a region on the timeline by selecting it in the Edit Details window (like Sound Forge does!)

4. Also related to video/audio sync: paired sync audio and video should be treated separately from "grouping." I should be able to ungroup a video/audio event from several other events, and move the audio and video together as a unit without losing sync. There should be a completely separate option to unsync paired audio and video.
