Nowadays I regularly notice when I open another program while Vegas Pro 20 is also open, that Vegas Pro blocks! Do you have that too? I didn't notice that before. The programs I open can be of all kinds, Internet Browser, a Media Player etc...
@john_dennis : By "Vegas Pro blocks" I mean "Vegas Pro stops working"
@mark-y mark -y : I'm going to uncheck "Close media files when not the active application", and see if this will help.
@Reyfox Reyfox : I do have some programs installed on my PC. Maybe that's the cause. Or maybe the graphics card is the cause. I don't know, so I wonder if other people have this problem as well.

@Amivideotek Hi, put an @ in the sentence, that will give you pop-up options of people who you can tag to show who you're replying to, 👍
@Amivideotek I have "Close media files" check marked. When I didn't, and I am always hopping around on the desktop with Vegas opened, I didn't have to wait for the media files to "rebuild".
But then, once the media files are already on the timeline, I am usually in the Video FX tab.

@Amivideotek without any idea of what your graphics card is (or your other hardware), it's hard to say. How about adding them to your User Profile Signature like most of us?

@Amivideotek Thought maybe your problem might be that Vegas renders stop when Vegas is not the active application. But I just tried it with the option checked and no problem here. Switched to FireFox browser while Vegas was rendering without issue. Is Vegas locking up and crashing when you switch to another app? If so, what app is that and what is it trying to do?
@mark-y I had checked off "Close media files when not the active application", but the problem persists. This time with opening Outlook!
@Howard-Vigorita When rendering, I'm never going to open another program in Vegas Pro. I don't risk that! Vegas Pro sometimes stops working just like that and a lot when I open another program like Outlook, Brave, Potplayer... Sometimes when I use .mov files and sometimes when I create a nested file. Sometimes I can work for an hour without a problem, sometimes I have to save after every action. That was also the reason why I asked for a feature to manually start an advanced save (see Run an advanced save on request 5/21/2022) with a shortcut or a new button. This could have helped me! After finalizing my video, I'm going to completely reinstall my computer and I'll see if this helps!
