Vegas Colorization plug-in not working (Vegas Pro 18)

bryan-quarrie wrote on 8/10/2020, 8:52 AM

Hello all,

I recently decided to check out this new feature, and so I tried to use this effect as both an event effect or a media effect on a black/white video or photo but it doesn't work (the effects window for that effect does not show up).

I've made sure that the AI models have been installed (they were installed ok - I even tried to re-install them just in case), but the result is still the same.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks.

Thanks for the encouragement guys 😃.

At least now I know it's not an isolated thing. My only other concern is that when they do come out with another update they don't break the rendering and GPU performance, as 18 is the best version I've ever bought as far as that is concerned 👍

Have you made sure that you have put the colorization plugin BEFORE the pan crop in the FX Event window?

@AmazingM It wouldn't show up at all 😦.

I opened the event fx window, opened the effects to select that effect, clicked "add", clicked ok then....nothing.

(effect dissappears, goes back to the crop window 😞)

Do you see these presets after a while clicking the FX pane and choosing "Style Transfer"?

No. No presets. If I click on Style Transfer fx in this window, Vegas will crash.

@j-v Hi I haven't got those presets. Strange - why is that? I've made sure v18 was installed properly, with v17 uninstalled first. 😶

@pierre-k Vegas froze for about 10 seconds then carried on (on my machine). Still no pressets for Style Transfer though.

Does not work for me. If you add the effect from the fx button it does nothing. If you try and drag the effect to the clip it crashes and you need to close the program.

I just installed VP 18 with the downloader, loaded up a B&W photo and it colorized it. I also did what Gary did in his VP 18 intro video and added the Black and White FX to a normal video, then added Colorization to recolor it! It all worked fine. System specs in my signature.

Please keep in mind the VEGAS Pro 18 system requirements for the CPU. We are currently requiring a 6th Generator Intel Core or Xeon processor (or AMD equivilant). These processors contain specific features which are required for the AI/Deep learning features to work properly. You may have some success with some older processors, however, you may experience many more problems.

Bryan has an AMD Ryzen 9 3900x processor and has the same problems as us who have older Xeon processors. Does this mean that its processor is also old and unsuitable?

So I ask for a complete list of suitable processors.

bryan-quarrie wrote on 8/11/2020, 11:07 AM

Yes I'm interested too, as I only recently upgraded my set-up (before the 3900x I had the Ryzen 7 1700 chip)

When I had the trial of Vegas Pro 18 installed, if I wanted to use the AI effects (Colorization, Style Transfer), I would need to delete the files in C:\Users\MySpace\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\18.0 every time before running Vegas Pro 18. You may not need to delete all files. Try deleting just svfx_plugin_cache.bin
