VEGAS Deep Learning Models 19.1.0.0

Stevie wrote on 5/10/2022, 4:59 AM

I purchased vegas edit 365 and I got the Deep learning model 19 included with pro 19. I can drag the colorization video fx on to a video event. However it does not preview in color. Initially black screen until I press preview. play. But still in Black and white. Is there a magic button I am missing?

Please make sure that your computer meets the recommended minimum specifications for Vegas Pro 19 - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/specifications/#productMenu. This is especially important for the AI effects.

When the AI FX were released with Vegas Pro 18, they did not work (i.e. same result as you've got) because my then editing computer - an i7-4770 - was well below those minimum specs.

If your computer does meet the recommended minimum specifications, please refer to https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/ and provide as much information as possible as requested under sections B and C.

Thank you for the information. Clearly, your computer easily meets or exceeds the specs needed for HD.

The colorization FX should take effect immediately by default on placing it on a B&W image without any tweaking needed. So let's go for what sometimes is an inadvertent setting in Vegas Pro's preview window. In the preview window's task bar, check the FX Bypass button to make sure that it isn't set to bypass all applied FX. When set to bypass FX, only the original video event image will display in the preview window no matter what FX have been applied to the event.

My apologies, the button is called Split-Screen but one of its settings via the dropdown menu is called FX Bypass:

When I add the colorization fx, the preview window goes black

... other third party fx preview just fine

What happens if you individually add either of the other two AI VFX: Style Transfer and Upscale to the video event? Do you still get a black screen? If yes, there is likely some issue either in Vegas Pro's settings or between Vegas Pro and the GPU.

Also, just to check, there are no other FX added to the video event either at event or track level before colorization is added? If yes, try disabling those other FX.

A Google search of Inference Engine Exception indicates that this is possibly related to an Intel issue with processing AI data. This being above my pay-grade, there should be knowledgeable forum members across the world who might be able to assist over the next several hours.

BTW, uninstalling/re-installing often achieves little - it's sometimes better to reset Vegas Pro back to its factory settings via this procedure. Given the background here, there seems to be a deeper problem than a reset.

Not 'known' to my knowledge, but a remote possibility if any other FX plugins are placed earlier in the plugin chain. Only suggested on the 'isolation' principle to eliminate possibilities - that is, make the problem FX the only FX on the timeline ideally in a test project.

Hi, I can't help, only share,

Out of curiosity i looked at Style Transfer, in the window it shows Picasso with the red writing as pics above, hover mouse over it & the fx scrolls red writing- fx - red writing - fx.... & works on the timeline ok

PS, I deleted everything from C:\Users\my name\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0 to see if it would reload the plugins & thumbnails. nope, it's still like in the pics above

PPS, not related but this is Picasso playback on my machine, not even close to full fps, my pc is doing very little & i know Colorization doesn't do any better, some of these fx's + Vegas are pants.

The third party plugin isn't running. Just thought I'd mention it. I'm pretty flummoxed at this point. Both Vegas and Deep Learning Models are the latest builds. My Computer is super fast. As you say, the effect should show immediately in preview window. I should not have to make any changes from Vegas default settings to my knowledge.

I downloaded via the direct links - VEGAS Pro 19.0.0.550 and VEGAS Deep Learning Models 19.1.0.0.

Vegas works fine and any third party plugins I installed also work fine. The three AI plugins however don't work as I explained earlier. I get either black screens ( Colorize) or error screens ( Style Transfer).

I'll try the earlier version of Deep Learning plugin and see how that goes

@Stevie Hi, It hasn't been mentioned but if you haven't already & just as a matter of course check your GPU driver is up to date, GeForce experience makes it easy if you haven't already got it https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/geforce-experience/

I believe there's Intel GPU drivers also, but i've got AMD CPU so don't know about that.

Hi Gid. My GPU drivers are up to date. I tried VEGAS Deep Learning Models 19.0.0.0 as well as VEGAS Deep Learning Models 19.1.0.0. The same issue. Seems a pity but I'll leave this thread open for anyone to check. I use a Colab colorization process which is excellent but somewhat tedious. I was looking forward to trying the Vegas desktop version. It clearly works on earlier Vegas 18 for other users. Does my license all previous build or just Vegas 19?

Initially the AI did not work for me but I was advised to transfer (replace) the tbb.dll files in the Intel folder (

Path is

C:\Program Files (x86)\intel\Opencl SDK\3.0\bin\x64\tbb

C:\Program Files (x86)\intel\Opencl SDK\3.0\bin\x86\tbb )

With the tbb.dll from the Vegas folder.

This worked for me. I'm using windows 10 not 11

This would be reversible if you change the tbb.dll to tbb.old in the intel folders.
