Dear Community,

We have just released the fifth update for VEGAS Pro 18. Please give us your feedback in this thread.

If you already have an earlier build of VEGAS Pro 18,  there is no need to uninstall it, build 527 will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Keep in mind that your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

For more information, please refer to our official announcement with patch notes.

I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Sincerely,

Derek

360 rendering has been broken since build 482. Build 434 works fine. Please fix! Using the Vegas Post build...

PLEASE fix the test pattern media generator which generates wrong values in some of the patterns since VP18... I sent several requests to the support and it never got fixed. This has NOTHING to do with the full levels option which was introduced with VP18:

Pluge And Porches:
Test bar in the superblack area not visible due to the complete backround being on the same superblack level as the test bar (7/7/7 instead of 16/16/16 in versions prior VP18).

Ramp:
Backround black level is in the superblack area instead of black.

White Porches:
Backround black level is in the superblack area instead of black.
Left white test bar is in the superwhite area instead of white.

Yellow Porches:
Backround black level is in the superblack area instead of black.
The level of the left yelow test bar is too high.

SMPTE Bars (NTSC):
For reference: The pluge and porches part of this test pattern is correct (this is how it should also look like in the pluge and porches test pattern).
The test fields for color calibration are not correct. If you remove all red and green components, the test fields should form 4 bars of exactly the same blue color with the test bars above them. This is not the case.
The demodulation test fields on the lower left have also not the correct values.

SMPTE Bars (PAL):
With the red and green components of the test pattern removed, the left test bar and the test field underneath have not the same blue value as the 3 on the right.

I brought this to the attention of the support who forwarded it to the developers in September 2020. I included extensive documentation and screenshots.

The feedback was that this is intended behaviour but they filed a feature request... case closed.

Also the test-pattern generator (after the faulty patterns are fixed) should take the projects level setting into account.

They're on it, you can trust that. They're working non-stop on trying to address as many issues as possible as quickly as possible.
