"fix your program or people are going to go to adobe!!!"

or DaVinci Resolve

I too am concerned...it seems Magix may be reconsidering their decision to buy Sony out.

I've been using Vegas since 2001 and would have difficulty in learning a new program so I really hope they get the issues resolved.

Have you ever submitted a ticket?

My experience was awful ...after a week or so I would receive a generic copy/paste suggestion after I went thru all the steps I tried and they would suggest one of the steps I had tried...and then they would close the case.

This is the only place I feel I have a chance of getting an answer, I gave up on "support" months ago.

There are two possibilities:
Either contact customer support - as @RogerS suggested - which has the possibility to read out the technical data from the crash report, or publish the data here in the user forum, which is necessary to give a serious answer.

The collection of troubleshooting guides also offers very good help.

No one can help with general phrases like "Vegas doesn't work".

I saw in the release notes that an issue with the LUT Look was resolved. That may be, but since then I have continued crashes when working with the Look LUT in Color Grading. I went back to the previous build, which gives me no problems in hope for better times. I've submitted several bug reports through the program. I hope they will be useful.

Hello montoya66,

Did they email you a download site for previous build?

Thanks

vkmast wrote on 6/20/2021, 3:07 PM

@Rosk did you see a related response to you here? And please continue in only one thread regarding this issue of yours

My laptop is displaying corrupt video files when i open a previous project since upgrading to the latest Vegas Pro 18/527. Tech support page seems to just give a runaround. Have some client projects to finish. Where do I get proper tech support?

@Cemal-Gurel Your file obviously comes from a Blu-ray disc. I wonder if Copyright Protection could be involved?

Dear Community,

We have just released the fifth update for VEGAS Pro 18. Please give us your feedback in this thread.

If you already have an earlier build of VEGAS Pro 18,  there is no need to uninstall it, build 527 will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Keep in mind that your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

For more information, please refer to our official announcement with patch notes.

I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Sincerely,

Derek

@David-Ingebretsen Some ideas on Opencl here. I'd uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers and if on NVIDIA would install the Studio Driver and tell Windows graphics settings to use Vegas Pro with the high performance GPU.

Thanks again Roger.

I actually solved the crash for now when I rolled back the display driver for my Intel display adapter to version 20.19.15.4549 dated 11/10/2016. Sony Vegas now starts and runs fine. In a fairly recent driver update frenzy, this driver was updated to a 2021 version. There is clearly a compatibility problem between this new Intel chipset driver and Vegas.

I will also set Vegas Pro and Image to use the high performance processor. I hadn't thought of that. That should avoid any problem with the Intel driver.

There is not. I use them already a long time on my both installations without any problem and with excellent results

Same here with the HD 630, the latest driver works fine. Its more likely a compatibility issue between this particular laptop and driver as there are issues outside Vegas Pro (the other thread referenced Vegas Image also not loading).

ditto. even though the note say the issue was fixed, i only encountered this with build 527, where selecting a different click would leave the LUT setting for the previous clip visible. attempting to change it on the new clip would instantly cause build 527 to crash immediately. after letting it report about 6 times, i gave up and have gone back to the previous build where everything at least works properly

@vincent-k I've had similar issues with different builds and found I could work around the problem by disabling or removing the lut in the Color Grading Panel before changing it.

Is there a way to actually download this update? I have tried numerous times to click on the link for the update but it doesn't work. I have tried on 3 different computers. And still nothing.

@Jerry-Colbert e.g. your MAGIX account or MAGIX Download Center. If a browser (Chrome) does not download, try another. (See also the "Download FAQ", sections 3, 4 and 6.)

I noticed a bug with Project notes.

I was adding notes to project notes and saving projects with Incremental save.

Each stage of changes I wrote down as a note to project notes.

I used only one note with every change on a new line.

Then at some point after the new incremental save I noticed that all my note lines disappeared.

They were missing IN ALL project versions for the past hour.
