Let's all turn down the volume a bit, listen to users who have legitimate complaints and Ux issues, and troubleshoot together so we can report replicable issues to the devs and get them fixed.

Yeah, I've definitely had a rough day with Vegas working on a project I care about, and I got really frustrated. My apologies. I'll try to edit things down.

You should have seen some of my posts before the team approached me about being a beta tester... like after I'd spent weeks hyping up how good VEGAS was, and finally convinced the project lead to let me edit a huge music festival's daily recap videos we had to turn out each night... only to have VEGAS 14 start crashing non-stop the entire time I'd try to render, while we were up against a deadline of mere hours to get the project out the door in time for the following day (not to mention we were supposed to get some sleep in at some point as well, it was like 6am. Gates for the next day of the festival were at noon.)... I was not a happy camper on these forums those nights. We were hours late delivering one day, the second day it almost happened again.

So I get it... but I did find that these issues get resolved real fast when we work together, or at the very least, a workaround can be come up with until the issue gets fixed. VEGAS isn't perfect, but we've come a LOOOOONG way since those days. I'm cranking out entire projects crash-free regularly now.

Just a taste of things to come... please give your feedback in that thread, we need it to help shape the development of this feature.

Great Job on the update,

In regards to A.I. tools, I don't really find the colorization tool all that useful for day to day work (ex: Special Event Shoots)

Things like A.I. Sky Replacement might be more useful

Also this kind of quality A.I. audio enhancement for video podcasts

Enhance Speech from Adobe | Free AI filter for cleaning up spoken audio

Don't forget to try the smart mask tool, AI auto masking.

In regards to A.I. tools, I don't really find the colorization tool all that useful for day to day work (ex: Special Event Shoots)

That tool does open new possibilities for capturing old black and white home movies, upscaling them to 4K using AI, then colorizing them... so for some people they now have a new way to make money. I do hope to see the AI plugins continue to expand though, sky replacement and audio would be great.

Yes, very much so. There are quite a few YouTube channels specialising in doing exactly that with historic film footage from the late 1800s into the early decades of the 20th century - and they also employ stabilisation and no doubt frame interpolation to bring the original hand-cranked 16 fps footage up to a current day standard. Here's just one example:

Othr YT channels colorise historic still photographs.

And now VEGAS Pro has all the tools needed to do that in one easy to use app. If I had the film capture gear, I have some old family films I'd love to capture and give the VEGAS AI treatment.

I'm having an issue with the way Vegas update. Can not update via the Vegas splash window update message since every time I click to update it does nothing after it downloads the "update".
Been trying to manually download the latest build and there is an issue with your server. Installer is corrupted.

This is getting very annoying.

Using these links? I did notice some trouble with the servers, the forums have been loading slow tonight... so maybe try again tomorrow if the problem persists.

What happened to the Animate button in Mesh Warp with 326? Is it just me or is it gone for good.

Just updated 20 to latest build. Been using virtually all versions of Vegas since 13. Crashes 3 minutes into render, never had a Vegas crash before. 19 works fine with same render settings.

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 1/25/2023, 1:55 PM

@TVJohn Describe exactly what happened that caused this crash.

TVJohn wrote on 1/25/2023, 2:15 PM

Initiated a 20 minute timeline render as Magix AVC 720p. Vegas 19 worked and rendered the exact project and render as without issue.

TVJohn wrote on 1/25/2023, 2:28 PM

Just tried to render a project created and successfully rendered a week ago on the previous V20 build, The render stopped and Vegas crashed again,

fr0sty wrote on 1/25/2023, 2:43 PM

Are you using VCE or NVENC Magix AVC presets?

Plain Vanilla Magix.

Do me a favor, please make a thread about this so we can help you without other people's posts cluttering things up. We should be able to help you get a good render out, even if we gotta use Voukoder to do it. Either way, if there's something causing a crash, I want to know so we can notify the developers.

Appears to be the Magix AVC encoder only on the latest V20 build, The Sony AVC encoder works.

Good to know, but there's still something specific to your system causing this, as I cannot replicate it on any of my systems... so I'd like to isolate what that cause may be if possible.
