I find a really bad bug in the new update and i am so angry because the previous update was fine and now it ruins everything again, and the bug that 2 frames at the end of the clip got bugged sound annoying me more... Fix all bugs please... and why the hell when i use auto ripple the colour is changing to orange?

@TheSoundTV

This was a very nice feature that many users want, but if you don't want to use it, just go to:
Options>Preferences>Editing
Deselect "Change cursor and selected event color when in Auto Ripple mode"

@m3lquixd

Thank you! i am happy for that i can disable this feature. But still i got annoying bug sometimes while i preview the clip. And one more super annoying bug is when i upload clip sometimes in the end of the clip i have 2 frames with broken sound and i need almost every time to cut that 2 frames? but when i upload 100 short clips it's lose of time to check every clip and cut 2 frames of the broken ones... Please fix that.

Smart Mask looks promising, however I had a hard time finding it as I could only find it in the Plug-In-Chooser under "aI", but it is not under the tab "AI/ML" of the video FX window where I would expect to find it...

Looks like something's up with the context menus in the Project Media bin. When I right-click, most of the menu items are greyed-out, including some really useful ones, like "create proxies" and "remove from project and delete files"

RogerS wrote on 1/24/2023, 10:00 AM

Not seeing that here for video files- what type of file are you selecting? Things like solid colors aren't possible to delete from the project or proxy.

ALO wrote on 1/24/2023, 10:46 AM

Go to Project Media bin and click on any video clip that also present on the timeline (ie, part of the project). Right-click on the clip in the media bin (not the timeline). Many of the menu items are greyed out.

Woe unto you who tries to edit 10 bit HEVC in 32 bit mode. Lots of weird brightness shifts all over the place. No way to use this right now. :(

(edited out this part -- I was getting very frustrated here)

fr0sty wrote on 1/24/2023, 11:43 AM

impressive list of crashes bugs and broken features for me so far. Maybe start with getting Vegas to reliably open when you click the icon, guys? I mean that much, at least ?? What happened to Frosty's vaunted beta testers?

Might want to have a look at this:

It is absolutely insane that folks are expected to change settings within Windows Defender just to get a program to open when clicked. This isn't an isolated case, it's happening to multiple users.

I really appreciate the work that goes into new features and I love learning how to use new features too, but I'd prefer an update that got the basics right.

You see to be overlooking the fact that this is a WINDOWS BUG, not a VEGAS bug... If you're upset about that, write Bill Gates and tell him to get his shop in order.

Honestly, this is not a serious app nor a serious developer. I'm just about done with this

Maybe learn how to use 32 bit mode first... Brightness shifts are supposed to be there if improperly configured... but you obviously have zero intent on seeking help, and only seek to complain and bash the development team and VEGAS itself, so maybe you need to go somewhere else. Bye!

looking at the above I thought I would try the create proxy. It is greyed out on right click menu in project media window. So changed the min setting in internal menu to HD and set preview to draft but Vegas (18, 19 and 20) does not create proxy files when importing 4K. Not sure why?

Media is Sony 4K XAVCS. Set preview to draft/preview import media. Right click the media in project bin the create Proxy is greyed out. Tried this with V16-V20 same result. Changed option in internal menue to create proxy for media min size 1920/1080 still no way to create proxy. Followed your steps exactly still get greyed out option.

Hmm.... tried with a 4K XAVCS file of my own, downloaded from Vimeo... Can you provide a link to one of your files?

Maybe it already created the proxy? Do you see any .sfvp0 files in the folder with it?

Yes, well done that's it. If I import a file from desktop with no other files it works. I did not know it had created proxy files as I had not asked it to. Thanks very much for looking into it.

Vegas is the only program where this happens on my setup. So shall I write Bill an email and say "Vegas wont work on Windows but everything else is awesome. Fix it please"?

You gave me a very similary reply Fr0sty when I had issues with my previous PC. You blamed it on NVIDEA drivers that time and recommended a full wipe and reinstall. Of course that didnt fix the issue either but this new update did (vegas locking up when trying to save a project. Again, fundamentals.) Magix seems to never be at fault.

Brushing off real issues with (poor) sarcastic jokes, on a product that people pay for, isn't the way.

fr0sty wrote on 1/24/2023, 2:44 PM

Blaming the VEGAS development team for a well documented issue happening to various windows apps isn't the way either. It may be VEGAS, it may be this issue that many windows users are experiencing but ONLY WITH CERTAIN APPS. Just because VEGAS is the only app on your system doing this doesn't rule out this bug being to blame... We won't know until we dig and try to find out the cause, but we do have a very real suspect here, and it may indeed be Bill's (former) company's mistake causing your problem here. Microsoft has already acknowledged and released a patch for the issue, as well as a workaround for users who don't have the patch installed yet.

So, instead of pointing fingers and complaining, we should try the more constructive approach of trying to get to the bottom of why this is happening. If the suggested fix I gave for this issue works, which you have not said if you've even tried it yet, then we know that VEGAS was indeed not the cause of the issue. VEGAS relies on Windows to function properly in order to function properly itself. Broken Windows, broken VEGAS.

Hi, I just downloaded this program, I did use a Vegas program a couple years ago and then switched to adobe but I wanted to go back to the vegas program. I am trying to use the multicam editing feature. I watched a tutorial on it and followed the instructions but I can not get it to show both cameras on the screen. Also, in the tutorial when the person selects "create multi camera track" all his clips stay where they are, when I do it it moves all video to one line and all audio to the line underneath. Why is this happening? Is it a user issue or a program issue and how do I fix it? I would love to use this feature in my editing if I can get it to work for me.

EricLNZ wrote on 1/24/2023, 6:03 PM

@jennifer-h Probably a user issue but you've posted in a thread for general comments on a build. Please create a new thread with your problem where it's more likely to get responses.

Okay, I did that and the menu items are not grayed out. Both swap video files and remove from timeline are functional. It's AVC media if that matters- are you seeing this with a particular type of video? Is there already a proxy file in the folder?

Not sure if I can replicate brightness shifts, just tried with an HEVC clip. Is this ACES or is view transform off in 32-bit full?

That's what turned out to be the case with another user reporting that proxies were greyed out, VEGAS had already made a proxy.

Look for the .sfvp0 files in the same folder as your media. If you see them, you already have proxies built.

Looks like something's up with the context menus in the Project Media bin. When I right-click, most of the menu items are greyed-out, including some really useful ones, like "create proxies" and "remove from project and delete files"

I've identified the issue here -- in this case it was the way I was clicking through. I was right-clicking directly on a clip on the timeline, choosing "select in project media" AND THEN immediately right-clicking on the selected clip in the media bin. I did not realize that by doing that in this version of Vegas, the clip in the media bin gets deselected, hence the greyed-out menus.

So I guess you can call this user error...

...although, if you do the same procedure in good old Sony Vegas 9, the clips do not deselect, which saves you an extra click or two. Maybe worth thinking about, developer people?

RogerS wrote on 1/24/2023, 8:35 PM

Let's all turn down the volume a bit, listen to users who have legitimate complaints and Ux issues, and troubleshoot together so we can report replicable issues to the devs and get them fixed.
