Over the life cycle of my last machine, its features were enabled by Vegas Pro and other software. No machine that I've ever owned has been fast enough. With this one, I don't think about it as much as I have in the past.
Friends. Let's finally pour some clean wine. Until Vegas has a new engine, all PCs will be slow. And they can be hydrogen powered. Vegas will always be slow. Please everyone accept this and stop buying ultra expensive gpu and cpu. It's pointless. Own experience.
For actual data see two benchmarks in my signature. There are huge gains to be had with powerful CPUs and GPUs... depending on what hardware you are comparing it to and what type of media you are editing. If we do get a better video and render engine those gains will be even greater.
Going from a 2017 Intel 7th gen laptop to a 13th gen desktop has been a massive improvement in editing experience (more than I expected, really). But it's not perfect- 10 bit 4:2:2 HEVC playback is still poor; likely a video engine limitation.
Going from an AMD RX480/39900X 12core/24thread to RX 6700XT/5950X 16core 32thread has seen a massive improvement. And my benchmark scores prove it with Vegas. No, Vegas still is like in the middle of the pack in rendering, but right now, I am good with that. Of course, improvements are always welcome.
So unless someone has information not yet public, how can anyone know what improvements are in the next version?
I'll say this much, stability improvements must come before performance improvements, otherwise you're going to have really fast software that just crashes every time you try to use it.
That doesn't mean that the team(s) will skip working on performance, in any way shape or form, but you're likely going to notice stability first. Things like new render/playback engines and whatnot may end up coming at a later time, we'll have to see.

It's a video that shows this new feature that I can't yet name in a lot more detail, so much so that it makes it very obvious exactly what this new feature is and how it works.
Has anyone tried firefly from adobe? It's free now as beta...very powerful. This was done with a photo, but I;ve also seen with video where you change anything you want.
