I dont have integrated gpu , this is my motherboard and video card
MB ASUS PRIME Z690-P WIFI D4 GAMING INTEL LGA1700
GPU ASUS TUF RTX3080-O12G

According to your signiture, you have an Intel i9 12900K. Well, this processor has an i-GPU, the Intel UHD graphic 770. So you have to look to your processor, not to the motherboard or videocard. See here:

https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/products/sku/134599/intel-core-i912900k-processor-30m-cache-up-to-5-20-ghz/specifications.html

So this i-GPU should be selectable in Vegas in the Files I/O preferences, if the i-GPU is enabled. How you enable your i-GPU on your system, well that is something that I cannot tell you.

Of course, but more beta testers means more different system testing!

I suggest you to become betatester, and then you can show us how to ensure that ALL possible combinations of hardware, drivers and software settings can be tested. ;)

For how to enable the iGPU in bios a kind poster already read the manual for the OP's motherboard and posted the relevant section on page 2 of this thread.

Once that is done VEGAS will find it and set it automatically in preferences/ file io to do decoding. It it doesn't show up install the latest Intel driver for it.

I can vouch that relaxvideo did apply to be a beta tester during the last open call. I don't know who was accepted but too bad relax was not as it's good to have such motivated users.

I assume that the test file was made with the Canon Camera by filming the screen, so that the mov file has the identical format as the video files with which you have problems, otherwise the test would be completely pointless.
In my AMD 5900X system, udimg VP21, I have now set the defaults as you showed, but no problems occur with the preview. System specs in my signature, 3090TI with 24GB VRAM.

Nizar has to explore how to enable the i-GPU in his system. For the further exploration the issue was forewarded to the development team.

That is all what we can state at the moment.

Thank you all for your efforts to help resolve my issue. To be honest, I'm not well-versed in system configurations; I excel more at editing on the timeline. I'm not even fully acquainted with many of the performance settings within Vegas. I'm not sure what iGPU has to do with this issue my computer shows only my RTX video card as the GPU. Nonetheless, I'll continue to do more research on google or youtube. I'm sure others will soon encounter the same issue, and hopefully, someone will post a clear solution online. Thanks again to everyone.

@Nizar-AbuZayyad

Just as an aside, once you follow the motherboard's manual to "initialize" the iGPU in the BIOS/UEFI, should it not initially show up as a choice in VEGAS Pro, you may have to do the "old-timey trick" of disconnecting your monitor cable from your Dedicated GPU and connect it to your Intel iGPU, then re-boot the computer. I cannot verify that on any of my systems, as I have not used a Mainstream Intel processor in my computer setups since Intel had the X58 chipset for HEDT, then after going X79 and X99 (Both Intel HEDT platforms), I moved over to AMD's X399, as well as a TRX40 platform.

Possibly one of the other members' in the forum can attest to the "old-timey trick" if needed these days.

Nizar, just take our advice and enable it. The iGPU is disabled in bios which is why it doesn't show up in VEGAS. The iGPU is made by Intel and features their QSV technology which works more reliably for decoding (playing) video in VEGAS than your RTX card and NVDEC.

I don't think Chief's "trick" is necessary- my 13th gen Intel desktop works fine with the HDMI/Displayport cables going into my RTX GPU.

I'm sure others will soon encounter the same issue, and hopefully, someone will post a clear solution online.

Nobody is going to post a solution as there isn't a settings problem. A bugfix may come later in an update. Otherwise you need workarounds like turning off NVDEC or using the older decoder. You are lucky that you don't need to use them as you have QSV waiting to be enabled.

@RogerS Thank you Roger, i will see how it should be enabled and i will do that. but just so i understand, why this iGPU thing wasnt necessary when i was using the V20? everything was working great with V20

RogerS wrote on 8/25/2023, 9:32 AM

Honestly, you would be better off with the iGPU enabled in 20 as well. There are numerous media formats that just work much better in VEGAS with QSV than NVDEC. It's why when I built a PC for VEGAS late last year I built it around an Intel CPU with iGPU. Half of my footage is Canon .mov h264 (rest is Sony X-AVC S).

With this specific type of file there seems to be a decoding problem with NVDEC in VP 21. Since you provided a sample others users could confirm it and Wolfgang reported it to the developers, so with any luck it's solvable in a future update.

That's the beauty of a community like this. We help each other and also help make this program better.

one last thing regarding the lag and latency in response on the timeline, do you think its also related to the same issue? i can attach another video so you can see exactly what i'm talking about. this is also making annoyed more than the black screen thing on mov files.

I can't say for sure but another user had an issue with HEVC media and NVDEC. He reported it was much more responsive after switching to QSV. If you can let us know if that is your experience as well, I'd appreciate it.

I recently had to purchase a new system (see signature). With one monitor plugged into the motherboard port and the other plugged into the graphics card port, VP automatically allocated the iGPU to the File I/O setting. I can't say whether this was solely down to the motherboard port being used.

If you give us wrong informations, then it is hard to support you.

What you could also try, is to set in the file I/O preferences the "hardware decoder to use" to off. Could work with your processor only, since it is an HD 24p video only - here your processor should be strong enough to preview and run your footage.
